USYS Concussion Procedures & Protocols

Georgia Soccer Concussion Policy

Effective May 20, 2013, the US Youth Soccer concussion protocol and notification form will be used at all tournaments run by Georgia Soccer. Georgia Soccer teams who attend US Youth Soccer regional and national competitions will also follow these procedures as required by US Youth Soccer policies.

All players who suffer a blow to the head and exhibit any symptoms of concussion at a tournament run by Georgia Soccer will be evaluated by the onsite trainer, who will follow the US Youth Soccer concussion protocol. Determination will be made by the trainer as to whether the player may return to play or must first be evaluated and cleared by a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy specializing in concussion treatment and management.
