SSA Classic Game Suspension and Termination Policy

In the event of thunder/lightning, a game suspension of no less than 20 minutes will occur. Games may restart no earlier than 20 minutes after the last recorded sighting of lightning or audible thunderclap.

In the event that weather does delay a game, the game will be restarted at the point at which it was suspended as soon as possible assuming the weather is no longer dangerous. In order to ensure that as many games as possible are played to schedule though, the restarted game will not extend beyond the next scheduled time slot start (See examples 1A, 1B, 1D)

In the event that the scheduled restart time is beyond the start time of the next schedule of games, the game will be declared completed if the game had reached halftime prior to the moment the game was suspended, with the score at the time of suspension counting as the official final score (See example 1C)

In the event that the game can be restarted before the scheduled start of the next series of games, but the restart time does not allow for the completion of the entire game and the game has not reached halftime, the game will be restarted at the point of suspension playing through to the start time of the next scheduled series of games. Once the game reaches this point, the game will be declared complete, with the score at the end of this duration counting as the official final score (See example 1D).

The tournament directors also reserve the right to shorten subsequent games, or declare games as a 0-0 tie following a weather delay in an attempt to return to the original game schedule (See example 1E). In the event that the game is a semi-final or final game however, the actual score will count regardless of how many minutes have been played. In the event that the scored is tied and a tie-breaker is required to advance one of the two teams to the final or to determine a champion, the sequence will follow that of the round-robin series, where both team’s records for goal difference, goals against (max 5 per game), goals for (max 5 per game), and most shut-outs will be taken into account. In the event that the two teams still cannot be separated, the tournament reserves the right to conduct a coin toss to resolve the conflict for a semi-final or to declare a joint champion for a final game.

Examples:

1A: 12pm game is suspended at 12:50pm approximately 15 minutes into the second half. Restart time is 1:10pm - remaining 15 minutes will be played, since the next round of games are not scheduled to begin until 1:30pm.

1B: 12pm game is suspended at 12:50pm approximately 15 minutes into the second half. Restart time is 1:20pm. Game cannot extend past 1:30pm (next scheduled start time) so 10 minutes is played with the game finishing at 1:30pm. Score at 1:30pm counts as the final score.

1C: 12pm game is suspended at 12:50pm approximately 15 minutes into the second half. Game does not restart before 1:30pm, so score at the time of suspension counts as the final score, since the game had passed halftime.

1D: 12pm game is suspended at 12:25pm approximately 25 minutes into the first half. Restart time is 1:10pm. Teams will change ends and play until 1:30pm, at which point the game is considered complete and the score is considered final.

1E: 12pm game is suspended at 12:25pm approximately 25 minutes into the first half. Game does not restart in a manner that allows for the game to reach the equivalent of one half of the game before next scheduled game slot of 1:30pm. Game is considered abandoned and the score is recorded as 0-0 for divisional round-robin placement purposes. In the event that the game is a semi-final or final game, the actual score will count regardless of how many minutes have been played. In the event that the scored is tied and a tie-breaker is required to advance one of the two teams to the next round of games, the sequence will follow that of the round-robin series, where goal difference, goals against (max 5 per game), goals for (max 5 per game), and most shut-outs will be taken into account.
