NOMINATION CRITERIA FOR NCYSA TEAMS APPLYING TO THE SOUTHERN REGIONAL PREMIER LEAGUE (SRPL)
- These criteria are effective March 2017.
- The SRPL is a league administered by USYS Region III to provide a competition environment for the best teams from the Region III State Associations.
- The Southern Region Premier League Commission governs the SRPL and makes decisions regarding the leagues structure and rules.
- Currently, some of the teams in the SRPL are granted positions based on their past performance in the SRPL and some positions are granted by nomination from the State Associations.
- These nomination criteria, developed and updated by the NCYSA Promotion and Relegation Committee (members of the committee are appointed by the NCYSA President), describe the order in which the slots that NCYSA nominates to the SRPL will be filled.
- If one of the NCYSA nomination criteria is filled by a team that already has a slot in the SRPL, or if a team declines to participate, the next team in line will be offered that position.
- There may be times that NCYSA is asked to nominate teams to the SRPL when there are no existing nomination criteria to fill those positions. When this is the case, the NCYSA Promotion Relegation Committee will make decisions on how those positions are filled.

U14/15 Boys and Girls:
For this year only (2016-17) the U14 SPRL teams, both girls and boys, played their SRPL league in the spring along with the U13s. This was due to the Birth Year Matrix changes. In the future, the U14s will play in the fall season along with the U15-18 G/B. Since the current U13/14 G/B play in the spring for 2017, a criteria is needed to determine the nomination order for the U14/15 Divisions of the SRPL for their play in the upcoming fall of their U14 or U15 year. Some of the teams that will be in the league earned slots based on their performance in the U13 or U14 SRPL league. The SRPL determines the criteria for earning these slots based on their own promotion and relegation criteria. There may be additional slots in the league that can be nominated by NCYSA. The following criteria will be used for the current U13/14 G/B divisions to determine the nomination order for NCYSA teams.
NCYSA will nominate teams in the following order:
- NCYSA USYS State Cup Champion
- NCYSA USYS State Cup Finalist
- NCYSA USYS State Cup Semi-Finalist (higher seed)
- NCYSA USYS State Cup Semi-Finalist (lower seed)
- First Place NCYSA Elite East Division*
- First Place NCYSA Elite West Division*
- Second Place NCYSA Elite East Division*
- Second Place NCYSA Elite West Division*
- Third Place NCYSA Elite East Division*
- Third Place NCYSA Elite West Division*
*The rotation of East/West within the Elite division would alternate each year.
NOTE: Any additional vacant slots will be filled by continuing the Elite East/West rotation as needed.
