Pete Hamasian

Pete Hamasian concluded his third year as the head coach of the men's soccer team in 2022.

The Falcons finished the 2022 campaign with an 8-6-4 overall record and a 6-3-3 mark in league play. With six wins in its GNAC slate, Albertus made its 26th appearance in the conference tournament, challenging the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in an epic double-overtime battle in the Quarterfinals.

For their work in the classroom, EJ Gonzalez (Cheshire, Conn.) and Declan Ryan (Hamden, Conn.) of the men's soccer team were named to the 2022 CSC Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team.

In 2021, in his second season at the helm of the men’s soccer program, Hamasian guided the men’s soccer team to their best season in a decade, going 10-5-1 overall, with a conference mark of 8-2-1, on his way to being named the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year. The Falcons started the season with a seven-game winning streak, picking up five conference victories during that span, to go along with four shut-outs.

Three Falcons - senior Abdoul Aremu, junior Kelvin Cortez, and sophomore Garfield Robinson - picked up All-Conference nods. At the same time, Arian Bobi and EJ Gonzalez were named to the GNAC All-Rookie Team.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the men's soccer team could not compete in a regular-season or GNAC Tournament in 2020. The Falcons competed in five exhibition games against Eastern CT State, Trinity, Coast Guard, Becker, and USJ (CT).

Hamasian also served as an assistant coach under former head coach Brett Colavolpe. During that span, the men's soccer team has compiled an overall record of 22-25-7 and has secured three consecutive GNAC Tournament berths. In addition to the overall success of the Albertus Magnus Falcons, Hamasian also coached six players to All-Conference selections over his three years as an assistant.

In 2016, Hamasian served as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of New Haven women's soccer team.

Before joining the New Haven coaching staff, Hamasian also had experience as the head coach of the West Haven High School boy's soccer program and with No. 1 Soccer Camps, FSA FC United, and Cheshire Soccer Club. He holds a USSF Class D Coaching Licence.

As a player, Hamasian appeared in 70 games on the backline for Albertus Magnus College. As a junior and senior team captain, he helped lead the Falcons to 25 wins in his final two seasons, including a berth in the Great Northeast Conference Championship Game in 2010.

Soccer in College gave me a good point of reference for perspective coaches, somewhere I could direct them to see all of my data, in a well-organized, efficient manner. It was a good tool for my recruiting efforts.
