Aron Bassoff

Aron Bassoff has been tabbed as the 10th Head Coach for the Alderson Broaddus Men’s Soccer program. Athletic Director Carrie Bodkins announced the move Monday as Bassoff joins the Battlers with 19 years of head coaching experience across the NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA landscape.

“We are excited to announce Aron Bassoff as our Head Men’s Soccer Coach,” Bodkins said. “Aron brings a great deal of experience to the program as his teams have been competitive in conference and on a national level. His familiarity with the conference and previous success make him the natural choice for the program. Under Aron’s leadership, we will continue to move our Men’s Soccer program forward in a positive direction.”

Bassoff earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania and a Masters of Science in Sport Management from Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His successful career has led Bassoff to several institutions, most notably Davis & Elkins, where he guided the Senators to a 47-22-6 record over five seasons.

Bassoff has coached seven nationally-ranked teams across his career, winning three Conference/Regional Championships, and 11 second place finishes. Bassoff’s teams have also produced three Conference Players of The Year, and averaged more than 10 wins a season across his tenure.

Bassoff’s teams have also had success in the classroom, winning eight team academic awards, with 22 individual Academic All-American selections. His teams at Oakland City University in 2009, and Davis & Elkins in 2011 received the NSCAA Team Academic Award.

“We will have core values by which the team tries to practice, whether it be on the playing field, or in the classroom, or around campus,” Coach Bassoff said.

The Alderson Broaddus Men’s Soccer program is coming off an eight-win season which saw the team finish 5th place in the respected Mountain East Conference. AB most recently finished on top of the table in 2016, when the Battlers defeated Cedarville to win the Great Midwest Championship. In program history, Alderson Broaddus has enjoyed 25 seasons with 10 or more victories, and one season with 20 wins.

“I’m really looking forward to playing against and competing against old rivals and trying to get AB over the hump so they can be one of the top teams in the conference,” Coach Bassoff added.

Bassoff is married to his wife, Tammy. They have two children, Kayla and Drew.

Soccer in College gave me a good point of reference for perspective coaches, somewhere I could direct them to see all of my data, in a well-organized, efficient manner. It was a good tool for my recruiting efforts.
