Anne Metz

Following three seasons as assistant coach for the Cougars, Metz took over the program as the new Women's Soccer Head Coach in 2022. Anne coached three players to all-conference honors during her first season as head coach in 2023, and the future is bright for the Cougars as she brought in 13 new players to help build the program.

Anne MetzMetz knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level, starring as a player at John Brown University. Anne was decorated with many honors during her time there, including being named All-Conference three times, a team captain for two years, and All-American her senior year with the Golden Eagles. These accomplishments did not come without a lot of hard work and dedication, as she was challenged her freshman year by her coach that much improvement needed to be seen or things would have to change. This pushed Metz to tirelessly train outside of practice each day with teammates, pushing each other to become the best they could be. This helped the team in a big way as Metz began to already help develop soccer players while still playing herself.

Metz had an illustrious career at John Brown, scoring 20 goals, tallying 24 assists and 52 of her 106 shots on goal for a nearly fifty percent on goal percentage. Her efforts helped her team to two conference championships and two national tournament appearances. Metz graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Intercultural Studies with Academic All-Conference Honors.

Following graduation, Anne played in the Women's Premier Soccer League, and after seeing success there was offered a professional contract to play in the Scottish Premier League.

With all of these experiences, Metz grew a passion for coaching and integrating her faith into the sport she loves. In her three years at CCU, Anne has been instrumental in player development, setting benchmarks for players to reach and helping them in individual film and training sessions. She has also honed her craft as a coach over the summers, working with clubs and high school camps to further even more athletes' development.

Metz recently received her National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced National Diploma.

Metz says, "I am very thankful for the opportunity in front of me. I am looking forward to working alongside [Coach] Camp to bring excellence and success to the women's program. My desire is to create a competitive atmosphere where players are challenged mentally, physically and spiritually and I am committed to being a program that does not settle. I have seen success in a college program and I welcome the challenge to bring that level of excellence to CCU."
