Steve Kimble

Head Soccer Coach Steve Kimble, who is in his 15th season, has directed his teams to the top four in the MIAC five times, including a second place finish in 2022 when CSB was 12-5-2 with an 8-2-1 record in league play.


Overall, Kimble has a 140-76-27 record at Saint Benedict with a 89-42-13 mark in conference play. CSB has recorded winning seasons in 12 of his 14 years with the program, and has finished the year with a winning record 32 of the past 34 years.


Kimble has coached three All-Americans, two MIAC Players of the Year, one MIAC Rookie of the Year, 20 All-Region athletes, 34 All-MIAC athletes and 19 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections.


He began his coaching career in 1995 as a St. Cloud Soccer Club coach and director of coaching education, a position he held until 2002. From 1998-2002 he worked with Sartell High School as the assistant girls’ soccer coach and track and field throws coach. Kimble also assisted with the SJU track and field program in 2000. From 2003 to 2008, Kimble served as a coach and Director of Coaching for the Lakes Area Youth Soccer Association. In addition, he has been a Coerver Coaching Camp clinician and camp director.


From there, he went on to Brainerd High School where he was hired as head girls’ soccer and track and field pole vault coach. In a successful run with the girls’ soccer program he was named Section 8AA coach of the year twice, won five consecutive conference titles and qualified twice for the state tournament. In his last five years at Brainerd, Kimble’s record against Central Lakes Conference opponents was 58-5-3.


He graduated from Sartell High School in 1995 and went on to attend Saint John’s University, graduating in 1999. While attending SJU, Kimble earned All-American honors as a decathlete with the SJU track and field program and earned a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He later earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University and completed a second Master’s degree in sports administration from St. Cloud State in spring 2015.


Kimble and his wife live in Sartell with their two children.
