Collin Cone

Collin Cone was hired as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Lubbock Christian University in April of 2022, coming to LCU after leading the men's soccer team at LeTourneau University for the last four seasons. He posted back-to-back winning records in 2021 and the 2020-21 season, and had the team improve in every year he was the head coach. The YellowJackets 6-5 showing in the 2020-21 season was the program's first winning season since 2010.

"We are extremely excited to have hired Collin as our next men's soccer coach," LCU director of athletics Scott Larson said, "I believe that he will do an excellent job of continuing to build the LCU men's soccer program."

Cone guided LeTourneau through their best four-year span in school history. Three out of the four seasons Cone was at the helm, the team made the ASC Conference Tournament, and he is the only soccer coach in school history to lead a team to more than one conference tournament (3 total). The 2021-2022 season was one of the best teams LETU has seen in recent years, as the team boasted a 9-8-1 overall record and 5-5 ASC record. His team made it to the ASC conference tournament and lost in PK’s.

He led LETU to their first winning season since 2010 in the 2020-21 season after LETU capped off a 6-5 record. LeTourneau beat Concordia Texas for the first time in Cone's tenure. The Jackets also knocked off eventual ASC champion Ozarks in the final regular season game to assure the winning record. The YellowJackets also knocked off SCAC Champion Centenary 2-0 earlier during the same season. His players received seven All-American Southwest Conference honors.

In his second season with the YellowJackets, Cone's team went 7-10-2 overall, 5-6 in the ASC. The YellowJackets qualified for the ASC Championship Tournament. His team knocked off No. 7 Hardin-Simmons, 3-1, in the regular season. The YellowJackets earned six All-ASC honors.

Cone’s first year at LeTourneau saw improvement, as his team had the most single season wins since 2011 (going 6-9-2 overall, 5-4-1 in the ASC). The YellowJackets doubled the number of wins from the previous season, defeated Hardin-Simmons for the second time in school history, had the most ASC wins since 2011, made the ASC Championship postseason tournament for the first time since 2011 and finished in the top six of the league.

Prior to joining the YellowJacket family, Cone spent three years at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He played a key role in the recruiting efforts for the Lancers while also working with the goalkeepers. In his final season at Grace, the Lancers won the Crossroads League Championship for the first time in 25 years and made it to the NAIA National Championship for the first time in 35 seasons. Cone's time at Grace as a coach was marked by one conference championship, one NAIA national championship, two NCCAA National Tournaments, and two regional tournament titles.

In addition to coaching at Grace College, Cone also spent three years as a student-athlete for the Lancers as a three-year starter. As a senior, Cone posted seven shutouts in the regular season to propel the Lancers to a third place finish in the Crossroads League, and was named to the all-conference team.

During his junior year, Cone was honored nationally as the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week after shutting out Indiana Wesleyan despite the Lancers playing a man down.

Cone's time as a student-athlete at Grace College included two straight trips to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament, which marked the first time that Grace College made back-to-back appearances since the 1982-83 seasons. Cone registered a 23-16-7 mark in goal for the Lancers, making 203 saves and posting 15 shutouts.

In October of 2021, Cone was selected to the United Soccer Coaches/NSCAA “30 under 30” program, a group comprised of the 30 best soccer coaches under 30 years old in the United States.

Cone holds a master’s degree in physical education with a specialization in coaching from Ball State University. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation D License for coaching, as well as the Premier Diploma (Distinguished Pass), Advanced National Diploma, Director of Coaching Diploma, Goalkeeping 1, 2 and 3 Diploma, Sports Performance Diploma, Foundations of Coaching Diploma and Futsal Level 1 Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches, formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

He was born and raised in Central Africa to missionary parents who served overseas. He attended Rainforest International School in Yaoundé, Cameroon, where he graduated in 2009.

Cone resides in Lubbock with his wife, Anna.
