Bailey Shattell

Bailey Shattell was hired as the eighth head coach in the history of the Malone University women's soccer program in February of 2020.

Prior to Malone University

A native of Syracuse, New York, she came to Malone by way of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. where she served as a full-time assistant coach for both the Fightin’ Engineers’ women’s soccer and softball programs.


In 2019 at Rose-Hulman, Shattell helped lead the team to a Heartland Conference Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championship and a berth in the NCAA National Tournament. She was part of a staff that was selected as the HCAC Coaching Staff of the Year after a five-win improvement from the previous season.


Prior to her time at Rose-Hulman, Shattell also served as a graduate assistant coach at Anderson University (IN) and spent time as head club coach with Hoosier FC.


Education

Shattell graduated Magna Cum Laude from Houghton in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and minors in Business Administration and Sports Ministry. She obtained a Masters of Business Administration from Anderson University with a concentration in Leadership in 2019.


Playing Career

Shattell played collegiately at Division III Houghton College in western New York, totaling 19 career goals and 13 assists over four seasons. She was a two-time team captain at Houghton where she led the Highlanders to an NCCAA Division I National Championship in 2015. She also played basketball and softball for four years, becoming the first three-sport athlete at the College. During her junior season, she was named All-Conference and the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year.

Bill Lawrence

Bill Lawrence was hired as the head coach of the men’s soccer program at Malone University in the summer of 2022. He previously worked as an assistant coach for the Pioneers from 2020-2021.


Lawrence, who is the head coach of the Cleveland Force USL Academy and USL 2 teams, has over 30 years of combined coaching experience at both the club and collegiate level. He possesses a UEFA B coaching license, and has spent time overseas as a coach and educator in Uruguay, England, South Africa, Spain, Haiti, and Italy.


Lawrence played collegiate soccer at the University of Connecticut where he was the team’s captain, and went on to earn a spot on the All-Big East Team during the 1989 season.


He graduated with a bachelor of science in secondary education and history from UCONN in 1990. Lawrence earned a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1993.

Patrick Alvarez

Patrick Alvarez joined the men's soccer coaching staff in the summer of 2022 after a highly decorated playing career for the Pioneers.


Over the course of four seasons, Alvarez played in 56 matches and made 51 starts for Malone. He scored eight total goals, including a career high three in the 2020-21 campaign.


After scoring two goals and totaling one assist in 2018, Alvarez was named Great Midwest Honorable Mention All-Conference.


Off the pitch Alvarez was involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for all four years. He was the organization's Event Planner in 2020-21, and served as the Vice President during the 2021-22 academic year.


Patrick's coaching experience includes working as an assistant with Canton McKinley High School in the fall of 2020.


Alvarez graduated from Malone University in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management with a minor in Coaching.
