Elie Monteiro

Elie Monteiro ’97 was named the third head coach in SNHU women's soccer program history on April 29, 2014. He returned to his alma mater after 12 successful seasons as head women's soccer coach at former Northeast-10 rival UMass Lowell.

“It is difficult to me to overstate how excited I am to be coming back to Southern New Hampshire University. I fell in love with the campus, the people, and the city of Manchester as a student-athlete and always dreamed of coming back someday,” said Monteiro upon his hiring. “It was a very difficult decision to leave UMass Lowell but SNHU has always held a special place in my heart. My family and I live in the area so we’re thrilled to be given this opportunity.”

In Monteiro's first season, playing with a small roster, the Penmen posted wins over regionally-ranked foes Stonehill and Franklin Pierce, with the win over the Ravens Monteiro's 100th victory as a collegiate coach.

In 12 seasons at UMass Lowell, Monteiro built the River Hawks into a perennial contender in the Northeast-10 Conference, while in his final season (2013) heElie Monteiro Bio guided UML’s transition to the Division I ranks and the America East Conference. Between 2005 and 2011, UML made five NCAA appearances, culminating in an 11-6-4 mark and an appearance in the East Region title game in 2011. Over UMass Lowell’s final eight years as a member of the NE-10, Monteiro compiled a 78-54-23 (.577) mark, and in 12 seasons as a head coach, he stands 100-110-32. A two-time NE-10 Coach of the Year, Monteiro was honored in 2005 and again in 2009.

Over his 12 seasons with the River Hawks, Monteiro coached three All-Americans, 37 Northeast-10 All-Conference selections, seven NE-10 All-Rookie Team selections, two Goalkeeper of the Year winners, one Rookie of the Year and one Defensive Player of the Year. In 2008 and 2011, the women’s soccer program won the Griffin Award as the River Hawk women’s program with the highest GPA.

The first full-time head coach in River Hawk women’s soccer history, Monteiro was an assistant with the men’s and women’s programs at UML from 2000-01 before taking over the reins of the women’s team. He started his collegiate coaching career as an assistant with the women’s program at Franklin Pierce University from 1997-99, helping guide the Ravens to a pair of Division II national championships.

A two-year standout for then-New Hampshire College in 1994 and 1995, Monteiro helped the Penmen to a 30-6-2 record and an NCAA appearance in 1995. He received his degree in Sport Management. Previously, he played two seasons at Massasoit Community College where he was an All-Region performer.

Monteiro also enjoyed a six-year professional career as a starting defender for the Phantoms of New Hampshire, helping the team to a record of 102-60-6. He was a two-time USL All-Tournament Team selection. Later, he would coach the Lady Phantoms of New Hampshire from 2003-05.

Born in Dakar, Senegal and raised in Brockton, Mass., Monteiro currently resides in Manchester with wife Claudine, daughter Isabella Rose, and sons Sebastian and Oliver.

Ariel Teixeira

Ariel Teixeira is in her tenth season as an assistant coach with the Penmen in 2021 after wrapping up a standout four-year career with the SNHU women's soccer program.

Since joining the program as a coach, SNHU has competed in the NCAA tournament four times, including the last three years of competition (2017-19). The Penmen also won the Northeast-10 Conference in both 2012 and 2017.

A four-year starter for Southern New Hampshire, Teixeira, a Warren, R.I. native, finished her career with 25 goals and 25 assists for 75 points, placing her seventh in program history in assists and 10th in career points. Just the third four-time All-Conference recipient in program history, Teixeira garnered Northeast-10 First Team honors in each of her final three seasons and was named an NSCAA Third Team All-American as a senior. Teixeira was also a three-time NSCAA First Team All-Region selection as well as a member of the NE-10 All-Academic Team as a senior.

A three-time First Team All-State selection at Mount Hope HS, Teixeira tallied 17 goals and eight assists as a senior en route to leading the Huskies to a Division I state title.

Teixeira graduated in 2012 from SNHU with a degree in Sport Management.

Jamie Williams

Jamie Williams joined the Penmen as an assistant coach in 2014, joining the staff of newly hired Elie Monteiro.

Since joining the program as a coach, SNHU has competed in the NCAA tournament four times, including the last three years of competition (2017-19). The Penmen also won the Northeast-10 Conference in 2017.

After a semester at New England College, Williams played three seasons with the Penmen (New Hampshire College) from 1994-96 and was named second-team All-NECC in both 1994 and 1996. He earned a Sports Management Degree at NHC. Spent seven years playing professionally with the Phantoms of New Hampshire and was a USL All-Tournament selection in 1998.

Born in Boston, Coach Williams is married to Sarah, and has two children, Lilian and Jameson.

Josh Taylor

After spending seven seasons as an assistant coach with the program, Josh Taylor was named the eighth head coach in SNHU men's soccer program history on April 30, 2015.

"SNHU has been my home for the last seven years and I have always felt privileged to be involved with such a storied program. SNHU has always been a special place for me and I am excited to take the next step as head coach," said Taylor upon his promotion.

Taylor resides with his beautiful wife, Erin - the backbone of their family - in Salem, N.H., with their daughters, Lulu and Pippa, and two bulldogs, Paddy and Journey.

Scott Chrysafidis

Scott Chrysafidis joined the SNHU men's soccer staff as an assistant coach in August 2022.

Chrysafidis arrived in Manchester after serving four years as the head coach at Finlandia University, a Division III institution in Hancock, Mich. The program qualified for postseason play in 2019 and 2021. He coached seven all-conference selections and two Rookie of the Year honorees during his tenure.

Prior to his stint leading the Lions, Chrysafidis was the head assistant coach for varsity and head JV coach at New England College (2012-15). During his four seasons, the Pilgrims went 45-26-7 and reached the North Atlantic Conference semifinals three times.

Chrysafidis attended NEC, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Sport and Recreation Management. He is currently completing a Master’s in Business, specializing in Sports Recreation Management.

Phil Tuttle

Phil Tuttle began his third stint as a member of the Southern New Hampshire men's soccer staff in July 2023.

Tuttle originally was a member of the SNHU staff from 2012-14, helping the Penmen to a 58-7-3 (.875) record, as well as its second NCAA Division II National Championship in 2013. He was again on the staff from 2018-20.

A native of Hooksett, N.H., Tuttle was a five-year member of the soccer program at Notre Dame. While there, he served as a team captain for the Fighting Irish and led Notre Dame to a pair of Big East regular season titles. Following graduation, he was drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer and has played the last two seasons with the Harrisburg City Islanders of the USL Professional Division. He also spent the 2012 preseason with the New York Red Bulls.

A 2010 graduate of Notre Dame with a degree in Business Administration, Tuttle is also the president of Global Benefit Coffee. He resides in Hooksett.
