Matt Micros

Matt Micros enters his fifth season in 2022 and posts a 24-33-6 overall record at the helm. He is the third head coach in SHU's history.


In 2021, Micros led the Pioneers to its first NEC Semifinal since 2019 with a 6-3-1 slate against conference opponents. He coached four to All-NEC distinction, led by Julie Gallotto on First Team. Nichol Green, Anna Ludkiewicz and Grace O’Hara earned a spot on Second Team as well as an added All-Rookie distinction from O’Hara.


The 2020-21 season was one like no other. Micros led the Pioneers through unprecedented circumstances as the COVID-19 pandemic forced a shortened spring season. SHU posted a 2-5-2 overall record and a 2-4-1 NEC mark and finished seventh. Micros coached Michelle Clarkin to a First Team All-NEC nod, as well as a Second Team All-NEC honor for Meadow Mancini. In addition, Sofia Germano was an All-Rookie honoree.


Micros posted his most successful season at the helm in 2019 with a 9-8-2 overall mark, thanks to non-conference wins over Temple and Hartford. Against the NEC, Micros led Sacred Heart to a fourth-place finish with a 6-3-1 record which landed him his first postseason trip with the Pioneers. He also coached Michelle Clarkin to an NEC Rookie of the Year accolade which was the first in program history. Clarkin led a crop of four Pioneers who also earned All-NEC distinctions, as they all earned All-Rookie Team honors. Clarkin also earned a First Team nod while Azria Malloy and Meadow Mancini added Second Team laurels.


During his first year as head coach in 2018, Micros posted a 5-13 overall record and 3-5 in conference play. He landed one Pioneer on the Second Team All-NEC list in Melanie DaSilva as the team finished seventh overall.


Prior to arriving at SHU, Micros spent the past seven seasons as the head coach at Post University, his second stint as the Eagles head coach. Under his tutelage, the Eagles made six playoff appearances, three ECAC Tournament semifinals and won the ECAC in 2015. Micros was named the 2014 Coach of the Year in the CACC, leading the Eagles to the program's best record, 12-6-1.


In addition to his collegiate coaching, Micros is the co-owner and founder of the Connecticut Football Club. He directly oversees the United program and coached the nationally ranked U15 and U16 teams, totaling 11 Connecticut State Cup Championships. In addition, Micros coached his CFC squad to the National Semifinals in 2013.


The development of players that can excel at the next level has been paramount in the growth of CFC under Micros' leadership. In the last decade alone, 127 CFC players have signed to play at Division I schools including: Boston College, Clemson, Indiana, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Penn, Penn State, and West Virginia.


Micros served as the head coach of the Connecticut Olympic Development Program from 1997-2004, leading the team to a National Finals appearance in 2003. During that time, he coached numerous elite players, including Alyssa Naeher, a goalkeeper with the US Women's National Team.


Micros graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in American Studies. He earned an M.S. in Television, Radio & Film from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications in 1990 and attended SHU's Graduate School of Education in 1995-96.


A native of Pittsford, N.Y., Micros resides in Stratford, Conn., with his wife Katy and son Grayson.

Scott McBride

Scott McBride enters his fifth season as an assistant coach in 2022. McBride assists with all aspects of the program, including recruiting, on-field coaching and scheduling.


During his time with the Pioneers, McBride assisted the Pioneers to three NEC postseason appearances and coached 12 Pioneers to an All-NEC distinction, including the program's first-ever Rookie of the Year in Michelle Clarkin.


Prior to SHU McBride was on the sideline at the University of Bridgeport, helping the Purple Knights to nine NCAA Tournament berths, all since 2007, including a Final Four and Elite Eight appearance. Under his tutelage UB captured seven conference regular season titles and four conference tournaments. In 2011, McBride was named the NSCAA East Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, an honor that is awarded to an assistant from any division of the NCAA.


Matt Micros and McBride have coached together at CFC, where McBride has been a coach since 2003. McBride has led teams to Top 25 rankings, a Region I championship and multiple Connecticut State Cup Championships.

Andre Lindsay

Andre Lindsay enters his fourth season as an assistant coach in 2022.


A native of Clarendon, Jamaica, attended G.C Foster College of Physical Education and Sports. The experience has allowed him to acquire a knowledge and understanding of how to work with kids in the real world. During his time there, he earned a three-year diploma and worked on two internships coaching and teaching U8-15 boys and girls. In his playing career at G.C. Foster, Andre won three consecutive Goalkeeper of the Year awards.


In 2011, Andre came to the United States and earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management at Post University. He played two seasons for the Eagles, which were the most successful years in program history. Post won 2 CACC regular season championships and earned back to back NCAA bids. Andre posted 10 shutouts in 16 regular season games, and was 2nd in the country in save percentage and goals against average. Andre also represented the Jamaica National U20 team.


Following his playing career, in 2014, Andre joined the Post Eagles men’s and women’s soccer coaching staff as the goalkeeper coach for four years. While on staff, Post won three ECAC Championships and appeared in three CACC Championship games. In 2018, Andre joined the staff of the Purple Nights at the University at Bridgeport. While at UB, UB won the ECC Championship, East Regional Championship and Division 2 National Championship, the first in the school’s history. At Sacred Heart, Andre will be reunited with SHU Head Coach, Matt Micros as an assistant coach on the women’s soccer team.
