Josh Osit

Josh Osit, a New Jersey native who has had success as a recruiter and tactician within Northeast Div. I soccer for a decade, was named the new women's soccer head coach at Seton Hall University on July 11, 2022. Osit, who spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Columbia University and two at Rutgers University, is the fifth head coach in the 28-year history of Seton Hall women's soccer.

Osit's impact was felt immediately in his first season in South Orange. In 2023, Osit coached The Hall to its best winning percentage since 2012 and its most points in BIG EAST play since 2013. The Pirates also logged six clean sheets, the second-most in a single season in program history. The Pirates' 1-0 win over Marquette on Oct. 6 at Owen T. Carroll Field was their first win against the Golden Eagles since 2015.

During his tenure at Columbia, Osit helped the program produce 35 All-Ivy League selections, six United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees, and the 2017 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year.

Osit's work as an assistant also helped Columbia become a consistent winner. In seven seasons of competition with Osit on staff, Columbia had a winning record in six campaigns, including a 9-3-4 mark in 2019, which constituted the program's highest winning percentage since 2008. Between 2015 and 2017, the Lions were the only women’s soccer program to finish top three in the Ivy league all three seasons. Columbia became a top-50 RPI team for the first time in program history in 2019 and reached as high as No. 28 in the RPI in 2021, the highest ranking in program history.

Playing a large role on the field for the Lions, Osit organized and conducted many of the team’s training sessions throughout the season. Aside from his on-field responsibilities, he was instrumental in preparing the team with in-depth scouting reports and tactics prior to each match.

Osit’s work with the attack at Columbia was instrumental to the program’s growth. His leadership helped deliver the Lions a memorable 2017 campaign, finishing the season ranked 22nd nationally in scoring offense, 34th in points per game, sixth in shots on goal per game and 18th in shots per game. The team's 34 goals scored were most in a season since 1996.

Osit also had a strong presence on the recruiting trail at Columbia. With ties to some of the top clubs throughout the Northeast region, Osit helped deliver a 2018 recruiting class that was ranked 36th best in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com, and he had a major impact on the Lions' incoming 2022 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 32 in the nation.

Prior to his time at Columbia, Osit spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Rutgers, where he was a part of a Scarlet Knights program that received back-to-back NCAA Tournament at-large bids in 2012 and 2013 and won an NCAA Tournament first round match in 2012. Rutgers' combined record over Osit's two seasons was 26-12-6 (.659) and featured an appearance in the 2013 AAC Championship final.

While at Rutgers, Osit mentored four All-AAC selections, two All-BIG EAST selections, three United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections, and three United Soccer Coaches All-American selections.

On the club level, Osit has excelled with Players Development Academy (PDA), based in New Jersey. A staff member since 2011, Osit has been an assistant for three ECNL national championships. He was also the head coach of the U16 ECNL team that was a 2017-18 national quarterfinalist. During his tenure at PDA, the club has produced over 20 players that have been called into U.S. Youth National Camps.

A native of Somerset, N.J., Osit holds a bachelor’s degree from NJIT where he was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team. He holds national coaching licenses from both the USSF and United Soccer Coaches. He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Cranford, N.J., with their son, Joseph.

Lindberg was named the new Pirates' head coach on Dec. 11, 2017, coming to The Hall after nine years as the head coach of Div. II soccer powerhouse LIU-Post. While there, he accumulated seven NCAA Tournament appearances.

Lindberg guided the Pirates to a bounce-back campaign in 2022, finishing with a 7-4-7 overall record an a 4-1-5 mark in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall's 17 points in conference action were its most since 2006 and resulted in a second place finish in the league standings, the program's highest finish since 1991. Lindberg and the Pirates received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, qualifying for the second time in three seasons.

Lindberg and the Pirates opened the season red hot in 2021, going unbeaten in each of their first six matches of the year. This included thrilling overtime wins over NJIT and Army, as well as a 3-3 draw against No. 10 Virginia Tech. Luca Dahn and Johannes Pex each were named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team at the conlclusion of the season.

In just his third year at the helm in 2020, Lindberg and his crew helped lead the program to its first BIG EAST Tournament Championship since 1991 with a 2-1 win over then-second ranked Georgetown at Shaw Field. The team also made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005 as the number six overall seed. The Pirates would go on to win two games in the tournament to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for only the second time in program history and first since 1988.

The Pirates ended the season as the No. 9 ranked team in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, reaching as high as the six slot earlier in the season for the highest ranking for The Hall since they ended the 1988 season in the No. 3 slot. It was the Pirates' first season being ranked top-25 nationally since 2006.

The Hall was also able to complete an unbeaten regular season at Owen T. Carroll field with a 6-0-1 mark in South Orange. Despite it being an abbreviated regular season, the Pirates completed the 2020 campaign with a 10-2-4 record, their first double-digit win season since 2005.

Following up a successful first year at the helm of the program, Lindberg again put the Pirates in a position to contend for the BIG EAST Tournament with a 3-5-1 campaign in 2019. Amongst the squad's biggest victories was a road win over BIG EAST rival Marquette, 2-1 in overtime, the first time either team won on the road since 2014... For the third time in two seasons, Lindberg had a player named to an All-BIG EAST team with Carlton McKenzie garnering second-team honors.

In his first year at Seton Hall, Lindberg led The Hall to an improvement of nearly 100 points in winning percentage. The Hall narrowly missed the BIG EAST Tournament in a 6-7-2 campaign, which included The Hall's first-ever win over BIG EAST rival Butler and its first conference road win since 2014. Following the season two of his charges, David Arvidsson and CJ Tibbling, were named Second Team All-BIG EAST.

From 2009-17, Lindberg led the LIU Post to a record of 139-30-15 (.796), eight East Coast Conference (ECC) regular season championships, six ECC Tournament championships, seven NCAA Tournament appearances and four NCAA East Region championships and berths into the tournament quarterfinals. Five times, LIU-Post has earned a national No. 1 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, and the program has finished in the top-15 in the final season poll in each of the last seven years, including a program-high No. 7 in 2017.

Lindberg’s teams dominated in the ECC with three consecutive tournament championships that have followed incredible regular seasons. Since the start of 2015, LIU-Post has gone an astonishing 25-1-2 in ECC games, including an active 18-game unbeaten streak. Overall, in nine seasons at LIU-Post, Lindberg went 64-8-6 in the ECC, with only three losses coming in the final seven seasons. The conference domination helped Lindberg earn six ECC Coach of the Year awards (2017, 2015, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009). He also is a three-time United Soccer Coaches East Region Coach of the Year (2017, 2015, 2014).

II National Player of the Year award, 10 United Soccer Coaches All-America selections, four United Soccer Coaches Academic All-America selections, 26 All-East Region selections, 44 All-ECC selections, six ECC Offensive Player of the Year awards, two ECC Defensive Player of the Year awards, three ECC Goalkeeper of the Year awards and five ECC Rookie of the Year awards.

Lindberg helped to push Southampton to the national stage, with the program climbing as high as No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll during his time.

In addition to his success in the head coaching ranks, Lindberg has a strong background in the professional and academy ranks. From 2006-07 he was the head coach and general manager of the New York Hampton Surf, a professional indoor soccer club and member of the American Indoor Soccer League (AISL). Lindberg coached the Met Oval Development Academy in Brooklyn from 2007-10, training 15-18 year olds in the USSF Development Academy system.
