Lisa Mann

Lisa Mann was named the fourth UAB Women’s Soccer head coach in program history in January 2023.


Mann arrives in the Magic City after spending the last four seasons as the head coach at West Virginia State University where she led the Yellow Jackets to a 40-15-4 record, a Mountain East Conference championship, and a berth in the NCAA tournament.


She started the program at West Virginia State in 2019, leading the Yellow Jackets to a 10-1-0 record. West Virginia State officially joined the MEC and finished third during the Covid shortened 2020 season. In WVS’s first full NCAA season in 2021, Mann led the team to 11 victories and a No. 9 ranking in the NCAA Atlantic Region. This past season, Mann guided the Yellow Jackets to a 17-3-2 overall record, the MEC South Division title going 13-1-2 and a berth in the NCAA Regional Semifinal round.


Prior to taking the reigns at West Virginia State, Mann was an assistant coach at Louisiana for three seasons (2016-18).


Mann’s coaching other experience includes head coach at NCAA Division II Spring Hill College, head coach at Presbyterian Christian High School (Miss.), assistant coach at William Carey University, and head coach at Giles County High School (Tenn.). She also has extensive experience coaching club teams in Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.


A native of Newcastle, England, Mann played collegiately at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tenn., where she helped the RedHawks to an overall record of 81-10-3. MMC claimed four consecutive TransSouth Conference titles (2005-08), two NAIA regional championships and a pair of NAIA national titles (2005, 2007).


While at MMC, she was a two-time, first-team All-Conference selection, and a second-team All-America performer as a senior. Mann was the Region XI Player of the Year and was named to the first-team NAIA All-America squad as a junior in 2007. Both national championship teams at MMC were inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2015.


Mann received a B.S. in Physical Education in 2009 from Martin Methodist and a master’s degree in Counseling/Psychology in 2013 from William Carey.

Mark Hiller

Mark Hiller was named Associate Head Coach in February 2023.


Hiller comes to the Magic City after spending the last three seasons as head coach at Delta State where he had a record of 26-14-7. In this time with the Lady Statesmen, he coached a pair of Gulf South All-Conference players.


In 2022, Delta State broke the school record for wins in a season, posting 10 victories. The Lady Statesmen hosted a GSC playoff game for the second season in a row after posting a 7-4-2 record in league play.


The year prior, DSU turned in its most successful conference season in program history, posting an 8-3-2 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Lady Statesmen also hosted a home GSC playoff game for the first in school history as the tournament's No. 3 seed in 2021 and a No. 7 rank in the region.


Hiller's first season with the Lady Statesmen was in 2020, a season that saw the GSC play a shortened schedule and a Spring Championship Series tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This marked the second time the program made the GSC postseason. Hiller's squad posted an 8-1-2 overall record.


Delta State was ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll in 2020-21, achieving a ranking of No. 19 in the country. Hiller and his staff were recognized as the United Soccer Coaches' South Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in 2020-21. The squad also opened the 2021-22 season ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll.


Hiller came to Delta State from the Cajun Rush Soccer Club in Lafayette, La., where he served as the head coach of the men's semi-pro team and was also the College Advisory Program (CAP) Director. Hiller also served as head coach of the St. Thomas More High School boy's soccer team in Lafayette, leading the team to a 39-7-3 record and appearances in the state championships in two seasons.


Before his time with the Rush, Hiller served as an assistant coach at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, alongside Mann. Hiller initially joined the Ragin' Cajun staff as a graduate assistant before being promoted to a full-time assistant coach.


Hiller holds a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, has his National "B" license from the United States Soccer Federation (National "B), and also holds Level I, II, and III diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches in Goalkeeping.


Hiller played at NCAA Division I institution Oakland University before transferring to Ashford University (NAIA) in Clinton, Iowa. While there, Hiller helped lead the Saints to an NAIA National Elite 8 and Final Four Appearance. He was a team captain for the squad and was also named to the All-Tournament team during both the conference and national tournaments.


Additionally, he has also played semi-professional soccer in various domestic leagues for both the West Texas Sockers in the PDL and the Quad City Eagles in the NPSL.


Hiller earned a bachelor's degree in Finance and Business Administration from Ashford University in 2014 and a Masters of Business Administration from UL-Lafayette in 2017.

David Lilly

David Lilly enters his first season as the head coach at UAB in 2024.


Lilly has spent the last two seasons as the head coach at East Tennessee State, accruing a record of 17-11-6 over that time while leading the Buccaneers to a second-place finish in the SoCon in 2022 and a first-place finish in the league in 2023. During those two seasons, the Buccaneers went 7-1-2 in SoCon play, the best record of any team in the league during that time.


This past season, the Buccaneers ranked atop the league in goals per game (1.47) and goals against average (0.755). Their 0.755 GAA ranked 10th nationally.


Prior to becoming the head coach at ETSU, Lilly led his alma mater Milligan College to back-to-back NAIA Tournament appearances in 2020 and 2021. During his four seasons with the Buffs, he had an overall record of 42-26-3 and a conference record of 28-14-3. In his final two seasons at Milligan, he held a record of 27-6-1 and helped Milligan reach its highest-ever ranking at No. 9 during the 2021 season. He was named Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2020.


Before his time at Milligan, Lilly served as an assistant coach at East Tennessee State from 2010-2017. The Buccaneers held an 81-49-27 record during that stint while reaching the NCAA Tournament three times. ETSU won two ASUN titles while also earning the program’s first at-large bid in 2016.


Lilly earned honorable mention NAIA All-America honors in 2005 and 2006 as a player at Milligan while also earning Region XII Player of the Year honors during his senior season. He led the Buffs to a Sweet 16 appearance in their first ever NAIA tournament during his senior season.


Following his collegiate playing career, Lilly signed professionally with the Carolina Railhawks of the USL-1 during the 2008-09 season. He has also played PDL for the Mississippi Brilla and West Virginia Chaos.


Lilly, a native of Coatbridge, Scotland, graduated from Milligan in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management before earning his master’s in Business Administration from ETSU in December of 2012 and an additional Master’s in Kinesiology & Sport Management in December of 2014.

Kris Hazard

Kris Hazard enters his fourth season with the men's soccer program.


Hazard came to Birmingham after having spent the previous 10 seasons at American University in Washington D.C.


In his tenure at American, Hazard helped the Eagles to some of the best seasons in program history, including spending the majority of the 2014 season in the top-20 in the nation with a win over then No. 1 UCLA. The success continued into the 2015 campaign as American defeated the defending national champions in Virginia and had a 14-5-3 record, breaking the school’s shutout streak en route to being named the 2015 Northeast Regions Assistant Coach of the Year.


Hazard played an instrumental role in the Eagles’ three Patriot League Regular Season Championships in 2008, 2011 and 2016 and in their three consecutive trips to the Patriot League Tournament Championship Game.


Prior to his time at American, Hazard coached at Tri-State for two seasons in 2006 and 2007. Additionally, he spent four seasons at Wittenberg University, beginning as an assistant coach in 2002 before transitioning into the Associate Head Coach role for the 2005 season.


Hazard earned his undergraduate degree from Wittenberg in Speech/English where he was an All NCAC All-Conference Selection for the Tigers in 1991 while also serving as the team captain.


Hazard is also a published author, writing a book entitled Hazard of the Game: The Dangers of Over-Parenting in Sport and Life.
