Wes Hart

Head coach Wes Hart concluded his eighth season at the helm of the Alabama soccer team, after taking over the program in April of 2015.


Alabama (2015-present)

Named head coach in 2015

Led the Crimson Tide to three NCAA Tournament appearances (2017, 2021, 2022), including the program’s first back-to-back berth to the Big Dance

Won the program’s first SEC regular season title (2022) off an undefeated 10-0 conference run

Coached UA to its first-ever College Cup appearance in 2022

Named 2022 SEC Coach of the Year and NCAA DI Southeast Region Staff of the Year

Posted a program-best 23 wins on its way to finishing No. 4 nationally in 2022

Has had six athletes sign NWSL contracts with Celia Jimenez Delgado (Seattle OL Reign), Nealy Martin (Racing Louisville FC), Reyna Reyes (Portland Thorns), Riley Tanner (Washington Spirit), Riley Mattingly Parker (Racing Louisville FC) and McKinley Crone (Orlando Pride). Delgado is currently playing with Orlando Pride and Nealy Martin has been traded to NY/NJ Gotham FC

Under Hart, UA has had three All-Americans, 12 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees, 16 All-SEC honorees, six SEC All-Freshman honorees and three SEC All-Tournament honorees

Florida State (2013-15)

Helped coach the Seminoles to their first national championship (2014)

Held an overall record of 47-3-4 as an assistant coach at FSU

Primary responsibilities with the Seminoles included planning the offensive attack, assisting with player development and video analysis, along with other recruiting and scouting duties

Develop a balanced offensive attack that resulted in 407 points on 129 goals and 149 assists

Won back-to-back ACC championships, made two College Cup appearances, posted a national runner-up finish and won a national title

Two Seminoles garnered All-America honors: Dagny Brynjarsdottir (2013 & 2014) and Cheyna Williams (2014)

Brynjarsdottir went on to post career highs in points (38), goals (16) and shots (87) in her final season at Florida State, finishing as the runner-up for 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy

During the national title in 2014, the Seminoles ranked in the top three in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in every major offensive category, while leading the league with a school-record 90 assists

Florida State scored multiple goals in 18 of 26 games, including four times during the NCAA Tournament

Colorado Rush (2005-12)

Spent eight years (2005-12) in a variety of roles with the Colorado Rush, one of the premier soccer clubs in the country

In his final three years with the Rush, he held the title of Director of Coaching Academy where he oversaw the girls ECNL teams and the boys US Development Academy teams

During his time with the Rush, Hart was involved in four national championships, including three as an assistant and one as head coach

He has coached several US Youth National Team players, including Lindsey Horan, who now plays for the Portland Thorns and U.S. Women’s National Team

Professional Career

Played six seasons of professional soccer in MLS (Major League Soccer)

Selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2000 MLS Super Draft by the Colorado Rapids

In four seasons with the Rapids (2000-03), appeared in 68 regular season games making 60 starts

Started seven of 10 MLS playoff games during that time

Final two seasons in MLS came with the San Jose Earthquakes as he appeared in 25 games making 14 starts

Was honored as the MLS Humanitarian of the Year in 2000 and 2001

College and Personal Information

A native of Littleton, Colo.

Began collegiate career at University of Wisconsin before transferring to the University of Washington for his final two seasons (1998-99)

With the Huskies, he garnered third team All-America accolades in 1998 and second team honors in 1999

Was honored as a first team Scholar All-American by the NSCAA in 1999, was a two-time first team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) honoree and was named the MPSF Player of the Year in 1999

Hart and his wife, Jamie, have two children, Dominic and Grace

Mike Piserchio

Mike Piserchio was promoted to Associate Head Coach in March of 2020 after serving for five seasons as an assistant coach on Wes Hart's staff. Piserchio also serves as Director of Player Development and focuses on coaching the attacking and transition tactics as well as attacking and defending set pieces. Along with his coaching assignments, Piserchio is the liaison to the strength and conditioning coach, oversees the community service program and plays a large role in recruiting and talent identification.

His implementation of mental activation, improving agility, explosion, cutting, changing direction, jumping and reaction has directly correlated on the field and has led to 249 goals and 238 assists

Instrumental in helping identify and attract the nation's No. 12 ranked 2019 recruiting class recognized by TopDrawerSoccer

Beginning in 2018, launched and started overseeing the Community Service Program for the team, which provides community service opportunities to players and ensuring that the players are active in giving back to those in need

In the spring of 2018, each player volunteered a minimum of 10 hours in service projects around the local Tuscaloosa community, including reading to elementary students, volunteering in soup kitchens and helping rebuild tornado relief areas

Colorado Rush

Spent 10 years as a Director of Coaching, a role that Hart held for three years prior to joining Florida State in 2013

Served as a head coach for several ECNL girls teams, and was an assistant coach for the 2008 U18 Girls National Championship team

Coached several US Youth National Team players and has played a vital role in the development of many youth national team and current professional players

Personal Information

A native of Littleton, Colo.,

Played competitive soccer at every level, including two seasons at the University of San Diego and the University of Denver

Competed one season for the Colorado Rapids in the MLS

Won a National Championship with the Colorado Rush and was honored as a NSCAA West Region All-American after his senior season at the University of Denver

Piserchio and Hart were teammates on the Rapids in 2003

Married to the former Jamie Grisinger

Jerrod Roh

Jerrod Roh begins his 10th season with the Alabama soccer program in 2023. Roh assists Head Coach Wes Hart with personnel and tactical areas - with a focus on helping implement defensive principles while also playing a key role in opponent scouting. Roh directs goalkeeper training, scheduling and the Roll Tide Soccer Academy that offers camps throughout the year. He also plays a large part in prospect identification and coordinating recruit visits. He was instrumental in helping assemble the 2019 recruiting class that has been ranked as high as No. 12 in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.

Coached Kat Stratton, who graduated in 2017, from a back-up keeper prior to Roh's hiring and surfaced as one of Alabama's elite keepers under his guidance.

Stratton finished her career second in the program record books in goals against average (1.31) and total shutouts (12), third in career wins (22), fourth in save percentage (.753) and sixth in overall saves (201)

Served as the Tide's Academic Support liaison during the 2014 season, turning in one of the strongest academic years in program history.

Senior forward Laura Lee Smith was named the 2014 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year, making her just the second player in Alabama history to earn the award. Smith also earned CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Second Team honors for her academic efforts.

Fellow senior Merel van Dongen earned first team honors for her excellence in the classroom.

Alabama was the only NCAA Division I program in 2014 to have two First or Second Team Academic All-Americans and was one of two NCAA Division I programs to have three First Team All-District members.

Hamline University (2012-14)

Spent two seasons at Hamline University in Minnesota

While there, Hamline enjoyed its most successful season in program history, finishing the 2012 campaign with a 12-5-1 overall record, while recording a program-best eight shutouts

Eden Prairie Fusion Girls Soccer Team (2009-12)

Served as head coach of the Eden Prairie Fusion girls soccer team

Led the team to the 2010 and 2012 Minnesota State Cup championships during their U-14 and U-16 years, respectively.

Served on the Region 2 Olympic Development Program (ODP) Coaching Staff from 2005 to 2010

University of Minnesota (2008-10)

Key figure in taking the Gophers from the bottom of the Big Ten in 2006, the year before his arrival, to the best three-year stretch in program history from 2008-10

The Gophers won more games than any Big 10 school during that stretch (48), while winning a Big 10 championship in 2008 and making two appearances in the NCAA Sweet 16 (2008 and 2010)

In addition, he coached goalkeeper Lindsay Dare, who still holds the Big 10 single-season shutout record of 17, set in 2008

Played an instrumental role in the program setting a school record with 16 Academic All-Big Ten honorees in 2010, while they also earned a second straight Academic Progress Report Public Recognition Award after recording back-to-back perfect APR scores in 2009 and 2010

University of Kentucky (2004-07)

Led the Wildcats to an SEC championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2006

Helped former UK goalie Anne Ogundele post what was then an SEC single-season record of 14 shutouts, a mark that still stands as the second-most shutouts in league history

Western Carolina University (2001-03)

Spent three seasons as an assistant coach

Was part of the best conference season in program history also, helping the Catamounts capture the Southern Conference regular season championship in just their third year of existence in 2001

Additional Coaching Experience

Traveled to Uganda in East Africa in 2012 for three weeks to serve FUFA (the Uganda National Soccer Federation)

His work included training the men's full national team, several Super League men's pro teams and girls youth teams

Has spent time at three different Division I schools in his career prior to arriving at Alabama, guiding each to a conference championship during his tenure.

Got his start in coaching as the boys' varsity head coach at Papillion-LaVista High School in Omaha, Neb. from 1995-2001

Served as the head coach for the Nebraska Olympic Development Program for under-13 boys from 2000-01

Has coached nine All-Americans, 31 All-Region, 47 All-Conference, and 100+ All-Academic honorees in his collegiate coaching career.

Personal Information

Earned a bachelor's of science degree in secondary education from Kansas State University in 1992

Was a three-year starter for the Wildcats

Completed work on a master of business administration degree at Western Carolina in May 2004

Has a USSF "A" Coaching License, a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and a NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma.
