AJ Stueck

1st season as UNE Head Coach (2023)

3rd season as NCAA head coach

AJ Stueck was named as the fifth head coach of the UNE women's soccer program in May 2023. He comes to Biddeford following one season (2022) as assistant coach at Bates College [NCAA III].

Prior to Bates, Stueck spent three years (2019-21) leading the program Eastern University [NCAA III] to a 14-18-4 overall record. The team did not play in 2020.

He was on the staff at Wesleyan University (Conn.) [NCAA III] for three seasons (2016-18) while attaining a master's degree in liberal studies. Stueck was promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach during his time with the Cardinals, and the program saw a 4.5-game improvement in win-loss record.

Before one season (2015) with the Yale University men's program [NCAA I], Stueck got his start in 2014 with both the men's and women's teams at Illinois College [NCAA III].

The Connecticut native holds an NSCAA National Diploma and USSF D License.

Stueck graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance from Providence College in 2014. He played two seasons (2012-13) for the Friars [NCAA I], after two seasons (2010-11) with Northeastern University [NCAA I].

Peter Oestergaard

Peter Ostergaard has led the UNE men's soccer squad for nine competitive seasons, and a 2020 campaign without any contests. In 2014, he guided the Nor'easters to the program's second-highest win total since 1997 at 9-7-2, and they made it back into the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament for the first time in three years. UNE fell in the quarterfinals to top-seeded Nichols, but were the only squad to defeat the Bison in the CCC regular-season. During the second half of the year, UNE went without a loss over a seven-game stretch (6-0-1) -- the longest unbeaten streak in more than 27 years.

In 2017, UNE was back in the postseason championship for an overtime setback to top-seeded Endicott -- and again, the Nor'easters were the only team to upend the Gulls during the regular-season.

In 2018, Ostergaard led the program to its highest-ever finish in the CCC standings (6th) since joining the league in 1999.

Prior to joining the UNE staff, he was an assistant coach at Colby College [NCAA III] for three seasons (2010-2012). Ostergaard coached professionally in his native country of Denmark, serving as head coach of Boldklubben Sollerod-Vedbaek (BSV) in the Danish Football Association from 2003 through 2008. During his tenure, Ostergaard elevated BSV into the Second Division based on a first-place finish during the 2004 season. Ostergaard was inducted into the BSV Hall of Fame in 2010.

Ostergaard has an extensive soccer education and training background, including a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) B License, National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Diploma, and five licenses through the Danish Football Association.

An accomplished player, Ostergaard played semi-professionally for the Vedbaek Soccer Club (Denmark) from 1985 through 1997. He attended Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine as an exchange student in 1984-85, and holds a business degree from Lyngby Business School in Denmark.

Ostergaard and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Bath and have three grown children -- Nikoline, P.C., and Signe. The oldest of their two daughters, Nikoline, was a starter for the basketball team at Quinnipiac University [NCAA I], and spent five years (2017-22) as assistant coach to the UNE women's basketball team.
