Eric Faulconer

Eric Faulconer was promoted to the position of head coach for North Florida women's soccer in November of 2018 and has since then turned in a 34-19-10 record and since then has seen the growth of two conference players of the year and 12 all-league performers.


Faulconer joined the North Florida women's soccer sideline in 2017 after 12 seasons at the helm of the Armstrong State University women's soccer program. He was promoted to Associate Head Coach for the Ospreys in 2018. The Armstrong soccer program and the athletic department were eliminated due to consolidation with Georgia Southern University during the 2017-2018 academic year.


In 12 seasons at ASU, Faulconer compiled a 172-54-23 record for the Pirates, leading them to the NCAA Championships nine times, earning three Peach Belt Conference regular season and three tournament titles, two NCAA Southeast Region titles and advancing to the DII Final Four in 2011. He is a member of the Armstrong State Athletic Hall of Fame, being inducted in 2017 and was selected to the Armstrong State University Wall of Honor recognizing the top 250 employees in the 83 year history of the institution.


In his first season leading the Ospreys (2019), Faulconer guided the squad to an 11-6-2 record (5-2-1 ASUN) which marked the best record in the program's Division I era. The five wins in ASUN play were the most since 2012. Under his leadership, five players garnered ASUN All-Conference accolades including first-team selections Thais Reiss & Hollyn Knight, second-team members Kendra Hoffman & Leah Ferlin and All-Freshman honoree Devyn Encalada. The Ospreys offense produced 33 goals, second most in the ASUN, while the defense set a school record with a 1.06 GAA.


Faulconer improved on his Osprey debut success in his second season (Spring 2021). UNF finished with a 10-2 (6-0 ASUN) record while claiming the ASUN South Division Title. The team advanced to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2012. Two student-athletes earned ASUN Conference Player of the Year Honors with Thais Reiss being named ASUN Player of the Year and Mercedes Sapp garnering ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year. Four Ospreys were named to the ASUN All– Conference First Team along with two named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team. A record five Ospreys were named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region South Team and Ariana Munoz was named to both the USC Scholar All Region Team and Scholar Al-American team.


In his third season as the head coach of the UNF women's soccer program, the Ospreys went 9-4-3, finishing 4-3-2 in conference competition. The Ospreys were tabbed tied for first in the ASUN Women's Soccer Preseason Poll alongside Lipscomb. The Ospreys defeated Lipscomb, 2-1, in overtime Sept. 23. Four Ospreys earned ASUN Postseason accolades, headlined by Thaiss Reiss' fourth-career All-ASUN First Team honor. Kendra Hoffman nabbed her second-career All-ASUN Second Team honor, while freshman Lauren Weiss joined Hoffman to go with her ASUN All-Freshman honors. Allyna Thurston also provided a spark on UNF's backline, landing on the ASUN All-Freshman team. UNF's laurels extended to the region as well, with Reiss making more history with her fifth United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection. The Curitiba, Brazil, native finished her tenure second in ASUN history for game-winning goals and 10th in goals with 42.


Faulconer's fourth season at the helm saw the Ospreys go 4-7-5, with a 3-3-4 conference record. The Ospreys were picked fifth in the ASUN Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll with 132 points. Three student-athletes earned ASUN Postseason Accolades, with captain defender Zara Siassi securing her first-career ASUN All-Academic honor. Defender Allyna Thurston notched her first-career All-ASUN Third Team honor, with both defenders playing key roles in bringing UNF five straight shutouts to close the regular season. Freshman Allie Fekany nabbed a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman team in her debut season with the Ospreys. The Orlando, Florida native led the Ospreys in goals and points on the season with four and nine respectively. UNF didn't permit a single goal at Hodges Stadium all season, while goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano finished third in the nation in goals/against average, permitting just 0.40 goals/allowed per game.


His overall record stands at 270-109-34 thru 21 seasons. With UNF's 10 wins in Spring 2021, Faulconer led teams have won 10+ matches in 18 seasons. Faulconer currently ranks in the Top 20 for NCAA Division II's all-time coaching winning percentage at .694. Throughout his two-decade collegiate coaching career, he has been named the NSCAA Region Coach of the Year six times. Faulconer owns winning season records in 20 of his 21 years as a head coach.


In his career, Faulconer has produced 12 All Americans, 13 Scholar All Americans, 65 All Region selections, 84 All Conference Selections, 6 Conference Players of the Year, 1 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, 2 Region Players of the Year and 2 Freshman of the Year. His squads have earned 19 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards.


Faulconer was tabbed to start the Armstrong State women's soccer program in 2005 after a successful stint at Thomas University, where he also built the Night Hawks program from scratch, beginning in 1999.


He led the Night Hawks to the NAIA National Championships in 2003, also earning NSCAA Region Coach of the Year honors, and the last three seasons his Thomas squad was ranked nationally in the NAIA.


In addition to his coaching duties, Faulconer served as the Interim Athletic Director at Armstrong State University from April 1-July 1, 2009 while also serving as the NSCAA National Chair of NCAA Division II Women (2014-2017), the NSCAA National Advocacy Committee College Coaches Representative (2015-2017) and the Region Chair of NSCAA Southeast Ranking Committee (2011-2013). He is currently the ASUN representative on the USC National Top 25 ranking committee. He has also co-authored three successful soccer training session plan books.


Born in New Jersey, Faulconer's family moved to Naples, Florida, in 1979. He graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1992 and a master's degree in public administration in 1996, with additional graduate course work in sports administration.


He holds a USSF National B License and also served as an assistant coach with United States Youth Soccer South Region 2003 Girl’s Olympic Development Program team.from 2016-2019.


Faulconer and his wife, Ginger, have two sons, Zachary and Ethan. They reside in St. Augustine, Fla.

Serge Lipovetsky

Serge Lipovetsky joined the North Florida Ospreys women’s soccer program as an assistant coach in August of 2021. Lipovetsky brings in over two decades of experience in the game of soccer along with a wide-range of experience all throughout the athletics world.


In his first season on the sidelines with the Ospreys, Lipovetsky and the Ospreys went 9-4-3, posted eight shutouts and earned a regional ranking for six-consecutive weeks. North Florida’s season-ending RPI of 88 was the best in program history to close the season. This past season in the fall of 2022, UNF turned in a 3-3-4 record in league play, finishing the season by posting five shutouts over the last six games.


Lipovetsky most recently served as the athletic director just down the road at St. Augustine High School from August of 2019 to June 2021, helping add four sports while overseeing new partnerships, facility upgrades, fundraising and more.


For the past two decades, Lipovetsky has had a number of stops throughout the athletic world, including multiple administrative and coaching positions.


Lipovetsky possesses bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University. He played collegiately at UNC - Pembroke, Florida Atlantic University and Thomas College.

Morgan Luckie

Morgan Luckie was named to the Osprey’s staff as an assistant coach in March of 2019. Luckie’s primary focus will be goalkeeping.


The appointment reunited Luckie with her former college coach, Eric Faulconer. at Armstrong State University. Luckie also served one season as an assistant under Faulconer at Armstrong.


In her first season mentoring the Ospreys netminders, North Florida finished the season with a progam best 1.06 GAA led by Rhiannon Conelley's 1.00 GAA (3rd best in program DI history) which included 39 saves, 10 wins and 4.5 shutouts. In 2022, goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano finished the season with 0.397 GAA (best in program D1 history), good for fourth in the nation while conceding just four goals through 906 minutes played.


Luckie was a four-year standout and two-year captain goalkeeper at Armstrong from 2012-2015. During her four-year career she was twice selected as All Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches organization. She also garnered Peach Belt All-Conference, All-Tournament, All-Academic and Presidential Academic Honor Roll recognition during her career. She was selected as the goalkeeper for the Armstrong State all decade team and was chosen by the NCAA for their degree completion award.


First all-time in ASU program history in goals against average and second all-time in saves and shutouts, Luckie helped lead Armstrong to three NCAA tournament appearances, a Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament title, an NCAA regional championship and a No. 1 final regular season national ranking in 2012.


After completing her playing career, Luckie joined the Armstrong staff as the goalkeeper coach for the 2016 season, where she helped guide the Pirates to an overall 14-5-2 record and a NCAA round of 32 appearance.


She has her United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Level 1 and 2 diplomas and serves on the state ODP staff of Georgia as a goalkeeper coach. Luckie also started the Outside the Box goalkeeping academy in 2018. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Armstrong in Health and Physical Education and her master’s degree in Professional Communication & Leadership from Georgia Southern University.

Derek Marinatos

Entering his 13th season at the helm of the North Florida men’s soccer program, Derek Marinatos has transformed the Ospreys into a perennial power in the ASUN Conference.

NORTH FLORIDA HIGHLIGHTS


In 2022, LJ Estes became the first Osprey since 2015 to be awarded First-Team All-ASUN and ASUN All-Academic in the same season.


Micah Gun also earned back-to-back ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week honors after posting a pair of shutouts with 11 combined saves.


Joaquin Acuña is awarded ASUN All-Freshman honors after leading team with five goals in 2021.


In 2019, North Florida defeated a top-50 opponent, had a tie against a top-20 foe, and posted more shutouts than the previous two years combined.


Two players earned ASUN All-Conference second team honors, while three earned All-Freshmen nods. Torian Went and Padraic Gilley were named to the ASUN All-Academic team, while Went was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.


North Florida moved up 65 spots in the RPI thanks to a program record for fewest goals allowed during the regular season (15) in the DI era, matching the program record for lowest GAA and posting the best defense in the ASUN, surrendering just five goals in conference play.


The Ospreys went undefeated in ASUN Conference play in back-to-back seasons, boasting a 4-0-1 conference record in 2015 and a 5-0-1 conference record in 2016.


In 2016, Jay Bolt was named the ASUN Defender of the year, while Adrian Nunez was awarded the Freshman of the Year.


UNF received its first ranking in the top-25 in school history and rose to as high as 21 in 2016.


The Ospreys burst onto the national scene in 2015 after capturing the school’s first ever conference championship and a berth into the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament.


Marinatos received back-to-back ASUN Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016.


In 2015, UNF compiled its first 10-win season in 15 years.


Marinatos guided the Ospreys to three-straight ASUN Conference Championship games after just the program had just made one playoff appearance prior to his arrival.


In 2015, a total of eight players garnered All-Conference honors, four went on to be named to the NSCAA All-Region team and Helge Pietschmann became the program’s first ever All-American.


In 2014, the Ospreys were regionally ranked in all but one week and finished the year ninth in the NSCAA Southeast Region.


Five players garnered NSCAA Region honors and five listed on the Atlantic Sun All-Conference team, both program records.


Goalkeeper Kyle Nasta was named the Atlantic Sun Goalkeeper of the Year, the first Osprey to take home an individual league honor since 2004.


In 2013, UNF produced the program’s first winning record in more than a decade and the first in the school’s Division I era.


The 2013 Ospreys set a new bar, finishing with an overall record of 8-7-3 and garnering its first All-Conference selection since 2009.


Marinatos’ squad set the school record with a 1.17 team goals against average and a then Division I mark with five shutouts.


Goalkeepers Brad Sienkiewicz and Kyle Nasta quickly rose to the top of the school record books. Sienkiewicz made 138 saves in two seasons, which is the second most in school history, while Nasta set the single season, school record for goals against average (1.10) in 2014.


In addition to the on the field improvements, Marinatos’ influence also carried over into the classroom. Four-straight teams have received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA) team award for posting a team GPA of a 3.0 or higher. The team boasted its highest grade point average ever with a 3.15 GPA in the spring of 2013 and over a 3.04 GPA for the entire 2012-13 academic year. In four years a total of 53 players have been placed on the ASUN Academic Honor Roll, including a program-high, 15 in 2013.


PRIOR TO UNFMarinatos came to UNF following a five-year coaching stint at Furman University having most recently served as associate head coach. During his tenure, the Paladins compiled a 49-27-4 record and were the 2010 Southern Conference regular season champions.


As an assistant at Furman, Marinatos had responsibilities with all aspects of the Paladin program including recruiting, film analysis, scheduling, equipment, budgets, alumni relations and academics. In addition to capturing the 2010 So-Con title, he helped guide Furman to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007 following a 19-4-0 finish that included a Top 20 national ranking and both the Southern Conference regular season and tournament crowns.


Three of his recruiting classes at Furman earned high national rankings with his 2008 group listed 17th; the 2009 class ranking 27th; and his 2010 class ranking 3rd in the NCAA.


Prior to his time at Furman, Marinatos served a six-year stint as an assistant and goalkeeper coach at his alma mater, Emory. The Eagles made a pair of NCAA Division III Tournament appearances including a 15-4-0 finish in 2005.


In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Marinatos is currently a U.S. Academy Scout in charge of identifying players for the U-15, U-17, U-18, and U-20 men’s national teams and served as goalkeeper coach for the 2009 United States U-20 women’s national team. During the summer of 2006, he served as goalkeeper coach and advance scout for the United States U-21 women’s national team that participated in the prestigious Nordic Cup.


A certified USSF “A” license national coach, Marinatos serves as the head coach of the 1995 ODP Boys Age Group and is a member of the Region II Goalkeeping staff. He worked as an assistant and goalkeeper coach for the Georgia Olympic Development Program. He is the founder of “The Derek Marinatos Goalkeeper Academy” and was an assistant director for the “Doug Allison Soccer Academy.”


As a player at Emory, Marinatos helped guide the Eagles to three straight NCAA Tournament while garnering three first-team all-league honors. A two-year team captain, he was twice named All-South Region. Marinatos played with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the United Soccer League’s First Division in 1999 and earned a full tryout with AC Milan in the Italian Seria A.


PERSONALMarinatos holds a bachelor’s degree economics from Emory and earned his master’s in sports administration at Georgia State University. In addition, he is a 1994 graduate of the Bolles School.


Marinatos, who grew up in Jacksonville, is married to the former Brittany Braun of Riverside, Calif. The couple has three sons, Maxwell, Jaxon and Hudson.

Clayton Zelin

Clayton Zelin joined North Florida men's soccer as the associate head coach in March 2019. Zelin brings more than 10 years of experience to the Ospreys.


With Zelin on the sidelines, the Ospreys have picked up a Top 25 road victory, posted the top goals-against average in the ASUN in back-to-back seasons and saw Cormac Begley and Jovoney Brown earn ASUN All-Conference second team honors in spring 2021.


He also assisted in helping Joaquin Acuña earn ASUN All-Freshman honors after he led the team with five goals in fall 2021, followed with helping LJ Estes earn ASUN First Team All-Conference and All-Academic honors in 2022.


In his first year on the sidelines, Zelin helped North Florida to its first ASUN semifinal appearance since 2015. One of the ASUN's top defensive teams, the Ospreys surrendered a league-low five goals in conference play. Zelin helped UNF to a win against a top-50 opponent and more shutouts than 2017 & 2018 combined.


Before coming to Jacksonville, Zelin’s talents helped Denver earn its first ever No. 1 ranking in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25. While with the Pioneers, Zelin saw the team make its eighth NCAA tournament appearance and win two Summit League regular season titles under the guidance of head coach Jamie Franks.


While with the Pioneers, Zelin oversaw the development of more than 10 Summit League All-Conference selections, four all-region honorees and an all-American. In 2017, he was part of the Summit League Staff of the Year and propelled Denver to a No. 3 national ranking.


While on the field his impact was felt, Zelin also assisted off the field as well as Denver had a CoSIDA Academic All-American, a Senior CLASS award winner and the top GPA in Division I men’s soccer in 2018.


Prior to his time with Denver, Zelin was a coach with Real Colorado, Real Salt Lake (AZ) and with 2017 National Champion Phoenix Rising FC, where he won league, state, regional and national championships.


Zelin has a proven record of development, including players that have gone on to US national training centers, regional teams, collegiate programs and professional organizations. He currently holds his NSCAA Premier and UEFA B coaching license.


Zelin has a proven record of development with his previous clubs, including players that have gone on to receive invites to the United States national training center and regional teams. His former players have also received collegiate scholarships and opportunities to play at the professional level.


During his playing days, he played NCAA Division I soccer at Georgia Southern, where he was captain and an all-tournament team selection. Following his college career, Zelin played in the MLS Reserves (Colorado Rapids), PDL (New Orleans, Salt Lake & Colorado Foxes) and MASL (Colorado Lightning and Denver Dynamite) before ending his career in USL (Phoenix).


Zelin lives with his wife, Erin, in Fernandina Beach.

Jacob Weinshank

Jacob Weinshank joined the North Florida men's soccer staff as a volunteer coach in Summer 2018, while also serving as a staff coach at Jacksonville Armada FC. Weinshank was promoted to assistant coach at North Florida in the Spring of 2019.


Since being promoted to assistant coach, Weinshank has helped in producing a top-25 victory on the road, as well as the ASUN's top goals-against average in back-to-back seasons. He also saw Cormac Begley and Jovoney Brown earn All-ASUN second team honors in spring 2021, as well as Joaquin Acuña take ASUN All-Freshman honors in fall 2021 and LJ Estes takes ASUN First-Team and All-Academic honors in 2022.


In Janurary of 2023, Weinshank was selected as the Most Valuable Coach at the EXACT Soccer National Showcase Camps as tabbed by aspiring collegiate student-athletes attending the camps throughout the fall and winter season. Athletes attending the camps rated their collegiate instructions, with Weinshank achieving the highest mark.


Weinshank comes to UNF after serving as a college assistant men's soccer coach at Maine Maritime Academy in 2017-18. He also worked as Head Coach and Assistant Director at Seacoast United Maine. Additionally, Weinshank was the Head Coach of the University of Maine Men's Club Soccer team (2016-17) and the Director of the Soccer Program for Camp Skylemar in Naples, Maine from 2013-15.


A 2015 graduate of Salve Regina University with a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology, Weinshank was a four-year starter on the men's soccer team. Weinshank’s brace in the 2012 conference final helped lead Salve Regina to the 2012 NCAA DIII Tournament and earned him the Offensive Player of the Tournament in the 2012 Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs. He garnered the Commonwealth Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award (2014) and was selected a NSCAA All-East Region Scholar.


Weinshank graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Maine in 2017. He holds United States Soccer Federation National C License.
