Enrique Rodriguez

Wake Technical Community College announced Enrique Rodriguez as the program's sixth head coach in program history in February 2020. He joins Wake Tech from Georgia Southwestern University where he served as the head women's soccer coach for three seasons.

Prior to leading the GSW Hurricane women's soccer program, he was with the University of Georgia where he served as a volunteer coach on the women's soccer staff from January 2015 through March 2017 when he was named head coach at GSW.

GSW competes in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference. The Peach Belt is one of the premiere DII women's soccer conferences in the country.

In his first season coaching at UGA, Rodriguez worked primarily with video scout coordination, a role that helped the Bulldogs earn two wins over top-20 ranked competition. Georgia advanced to the 2015 Southeastern Conference Tournament for the 17th time in school history and earned a win against No. 4 Texas A&M, marking the highest-ranked team a UGA squad has ever defeated.

Rodriguez was brought on staff at UGA after serving as the assistant coach for the women's team at The Citadel from 2008-15. Rodriguez was the international recruit coordinator and goalkeeper coach for the Bulldogs. He also served as the head coach of the men's club soccer team from 2010-14 while at The Citadel.

He also has an extensive career on the prep level, serving as the head coach of the men's varsity teams at the Porter Gaud and Pinewood Preparatory Schools in Charleston, S.C., finishing as the state runner-up for three consecutive seasons at Pinewood from 2011-13.

Rodriguez earned his degree in Architecture from La Salle University at the Bogota campus in Colombia in 2000. Rodriguez played collegiately while studying in Bogota, where La Salle reached the College Tournament finals in 2000. He holds a USSF National "D" License.

Omar Asad

Omar Asad was named the fifth head men’s soccer coach at Wake Tech in January 2018 after serving as the assistant coach with the Eagles during the 2017 season.

After a standout high school career at Athens Drive Magnet High School in Raleigh, Asad continued his playing career at North Carolina State as a center forward. He completed a Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance in 2012.

Asad also coaches at Wake Futbol Club since 2013 and has been an integral part of the success and growth of the club over the past few years.

"It's a dream come true,” said Asad. “I've always wanted an opportunity to coach at the college level and I couldn't think of a better place to start than Wake Tech."

Coach Asad is ready for the challenge ahead, he says, "Soccer is so competitive in North Carolina. I believe our soccer program can be a pipeline for talented student athletes to build on their skills and academics. I would like to see a number of our players graduate and transfer to four-year programs to continue their academic and playing careers."

It has been extremely helpful in allowing me to locate schools in a certain geography or division. Having information about the coaches and lacrosse program gave me added background without hours of research!
