Elissa Post

Elissa Post was named the sixth head coach in Wofford women's soccer history on May 24, 2023. She became head coach after serving two seasons as an assistant in 2021 and 2022, including serving as the associate head coach in 2022.


While at Kansas State working with head coach Mike Dibbini, her responsibilities with the program included video analysis and scouting, on-field instruction with K-State’s student-athletes and assisting at K-State’s various camps and clinics.


Prior to arriving at Kansas State, Post served as an assistant coach at Emporia State from 2016 until 2018. While working with the Hornets, Post was responsible for facilitating practice plans, conditioning and recovery of athletes. She also coordinated on- and off-campus recruiting and helped configure the team’s schedule and travel plans and itineraries.


Before her time at Emporia State, Post served as a youth club coach with Sporting Kaw Valley in Manhattan, as she helped with the development of the U12 boys and the high school girls programs.


Post also worked as a KSYSA staff assistant coach for the 2001/02 girls program. She also served as the junior varsity girls head coach and an assistant varsity coach with Manhattan High School with two stints with the program, the first from 2014 to 2016 and the second in 2018.


She is certified with NSCAA goalkeeper level 1, USSF national C, D and E licenses and NFHS fundamentals of coaching, concussion certified and first aid certified.


Post graduated from Kansas State in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with an emphasis in social studies. In 2018, Post completed her Master of Science degree in HPER from Emporia State. She and her wife, Felicity, have a daughter, Serenity, and a dog, Luna.

Gaby Alfaro

Wofford College head women’s soccer coach Elissa Post announced the addition of Gaby Alfaro as an assistant coach to her staff in late June of 2023. Alfaro joins the Terriers after two seasons as an assistant at Nova Southeastern University and enters her first season at Wofford in 2023.


“I am ecstatic to have Gaby join us at Wofford,” said Post. “She is first and foremost an incredible person and has a brilliant soccer mind. Gaby will make an immediate impact and help us continue to grow the program in various aspects.”


Alfaro spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Division II Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. In her two years as an assistant, the Sharks posted back-to-back winning records and made an NCAA Tournament appearance in the 2022 campaign. In that 2022 season, the Sharks outscored their opponents 30-13, allowing less than one goal per game (0.81).


Outside of the college ranks, Alfaro has been heavily involved as a coach in the club and academy scenes. She served as a girls academy coach for Florida United Soccer Club in 2022. For six years since 2017, Alfaro has served as the lead coach of the GVA Soccer Training Academy in Davie, Florida. She served in her club and academy coaching capacities whilst she was still a full-time student-athlete.


Before joining the NSU coaching staff, Alfaro spent three seasons playing as a defender for the Sharks. A team captain, Alfaro logged over 3,600 minutes of playing time between the 2016-18 seasons, scoring two goals and notching two assists. She helped her squad post double-digit wins in each of her three seasons, including 13 victories in her final season in 2018. The Sharks made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament during all three of her seasons, and she helped lift her team the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Regular-Season Championship, the program’s first. She earned recognition on the 2018 Fall SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.


Alfaro also competed internationally for her country, representing Costa Rica as a captain for both the U17 and U20 National Teams.

A native of San Jose, Costa Rica, Alfaro graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in finance and business administration in May of 2017. She added a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources from NSU in May of 2019.

Kellsey Weaver

Kellsey Weaver joined Emily Grant's staff at Wofford in the spring of 2023 to start her collegiate coaching career. Prior to joining Wofford, Weaver served as the goalkeeper coach for several clubs in the Metro Atlanta area including Southern Soccer Academy, AFC Lightning, Decatur- Dekalb YMCA, NASA Tophat, and individual private lessons.


Weaver was a four-year starter in goal for Furman University. In her time as a Paladin, she earned a spot on the Southern Conference All-Freshman squad in 2016 and All-Conference teams in the 2017 and 2019 seasons. In her sophomore year, Weaver recorded a personal-best eight saves in a 1-0 victory over Mercer and went on to shut out Samford in the regular season finale to lift Furman to a share of the SoCon regular season title. Weaver earned SoCon player of the month honors in September 2018 after recording 0.68 goals against average. In her four years as a Paladin starter, Weaver maintained a save percentage of .806 and tallied 22 shutouts.


A native of Newnan, Georgia, Weaver graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Furman University in 2020.

Joel Tyson

Joel Tyson enters his fifth year as head coach of the Wofford College men’s soccer program for the 2023 campaign. He was hired on December 12, 2018, after spending the previous two years with the Charlotte Independence in the USL. He was an assistant coach for the Terriers from 2011-2014.


“From the time I left in 2014 as an assistant coach, Wofford was the only place I could see myself as a head coach,” said Tyson. “The people, the campus, and the program hold a special place for me and I am proud to be able to call Wofford home again. I have enjoyed the opportunity coaching in the professional game for the past few years. However, it was the relationships I had with the alumni and the relationships I had on campus that made this decision more than just a soccer decision."


During the 2022 season, the team was 6-9-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the Southern Conference. Nikolai Rojel was selected as the SoCon Freshman of the Year while also being named to the All-SoCon First Team and All-Freshman Team. Jackson Wrobel and Paul Jones joined Rojel on the All-SoCon First Team. Jakob Andersson was selected to the All-Socon Second Team and the All-Freshman Team. Joining Rojel and Andersson on the All-Freshman Team were Nathan Childress and Zakaria Holmen.


The 2021 season saw the team post a 5-11-1 overall record and a 1-4-1 SoCon clip. Highlights during the season included back-to-back shutout triumphs over Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville and a 2-0 win over VMI in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament. Mitchell Myers was named First-Team All-Southern Conference, and Brandon Oddy earned second-team honors. The All-Freshman Team featured Magnus Kjoller, Amin Mohammedi, Nic Parker and Christoffer Saietz. After the season, Mitchell Myers signed a professional contract with USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC.


The team played the 2020-21 season in the spring of 2021 and had a 1-7-1 overall record. Seven of the nine games were decided by one goal. Buster Sjoberg was named All-Southern Conference first team and 22 players were recognized on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.


In his first season at Wofford, the team posted a 4-13-1 overall record and were 2-3-1 in Southern Conference play. Highlights during the season included an overtime win against Mercer and Adrian Roseth being named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year. Roseth, Sam Ross and Buster Sjoberg earned All-Southern Conference honors. Sjoberg, Roseth and Brandon Oddy were named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team. A total of 27 players earned Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades.


For two years Tyson was a member of the coaching staff of the Charlotte Independence in the USL and contributed to a playoff appearance and the franchise’s best season. In his first season with the club, the Independence goalkeepers recorded six clean sheets, 90 saves, and the Eastern Conference’s fourth-best goal differential. During his breakout 2017 season, goalkeeper Cody Mizell played in 32 games on his way to earning USL Save of the Month for May, USL Save of the Year Runner-Up, and being one of five USL Goalkeeper of the Year nominations. He was planning to work for the USL expansion club New Mexico United as first assistant coach before accepting the position at Wofford.


He spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Central Florida. In 2015, the Knights posted a 9-8-2 overall record. Hadji Barry was selected to the American All-Conference first team, while Jakov Basic earned All-Rookie Team honors. Barry was picked 13th overall in the MLS SuperDraft. During the 2016 season, the team was 5-11 overall and Matias Pyysalo was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Brian Jamba earned a spot on the American All-Rookie Team.


Tyson spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the Wofford men’s soccer team after spending two years at Hofstra. While with the Terriers, the team earned the 2013 Southern Conference Regular Season Championship and had back-to-back appearances in the Southern Conference Tournament Championship final. The team posted 10 or more wins in three of his four seasons with the Terriers. Tyson played a big role in Wofford’s recruiting and development of players such as Connor Davis, Nestor Jaramillo, Forrest Lasso, Matthew Aurednik, and Garrett Closs earned All-Southern Conference Team honors.


At Hofstra, Tyson worked primarily with the goal keepers along with assisting in all aspects of the day-to-day operations. In 2010 the team recorded nine shutouts with a 1.12 goal against average. In his first season on the staff, the goalkeepers had seven shutouts.


Tyson is the former starting goalkeeper at Coker College, where he graduated in 2008 with a degree in history (and a minor in English). He tallied a 1.85 goal against average as a senior for the Cobras, when he helped the program to the highest win total in school history. He was named a team captain as both a junior and senior.


While an undergraduate, Tyson also served as president of Coker’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), helped organize an athletic department fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and served as a student ambassador for two years. He also attended the National Leadership Conference in 2007 in Charlotte, North Carolina.


Tyson served as the Director of Goalkeeping at the Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy for many years. He also worked as the goalkeeper coach for the South Carolina Olympic Development Program (ODP), where he assisted Ralph Polson. He also worked independently with the goalkeepers for the Long Island Rough Riders of the Premier Development League (PDL).


A native of Irmo, South Carolina, Tyson earned three soccer letters at Dutch Fork High School prior to attending Coker. He served as the goalkeeper coach at Dutch Fork for one season before joining the Hofstra program in 2009.


Tyson and his wife, Megan, were married in 2019 and reside in Boiling Springs, South Carolina with their sons, Callum and Cameron.

Adam Reakes

Wofford College head men’s soccer coach Joel Tyson has announced that Adam Reakes has joined the staff as an assistant coach in March of 2023. Reakes spent last season with Nova Southeastern.


During his season with the Sharks, they were 7-6-4 overall and had two players named to the All-SSC First Team, along with one second team selection. Defender Farid Sar-Sar signed with Inter Miami CF following the season.


Reakes joined the staff following a head coaching stint with Apotheos FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).


A native of Colchester, England, Reakes has extensive experience at the youth, collegiate and professional levels, most recently serving as the head coach of Apotheos FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). He also held assistant coaching and lead recruiting positions at Reinhardt University in Georgia in addition to acting as Director of Coaching for Academy Juniors of Inter Atlanta FC. Reakes spent time as an assistant with the Georgia Revolution of the NPSL, along with acting as the Elite Youth Coach and Technical Advisor for Colchester United FC from 2016-17 before taking over as the Elite Development Coach for Inter Atlanta FC from 2017-19.


Reakes played professionally both in the United States and in the UK. He spent time in the NPSL as a member of both the Knoxville Force and Chattanooga FC before moving on to USL League Two, where he played with Peachtree City MOBA. In the UK, Reakes earned stints with a handful of organizations including Brightlingsea Regent, Stanway Rovers, Brantham Athletic and Colchester United.


He played collegiately at Reinhardt University, earning a degree in sports studies with a minor in business management in 2015.

Carl Brophy

Carl Brophy joined the Wofford coaching staff in the summer of 2023.


In 2022, he served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of North Georgia. The team won their opening round game in the Peach Belt Conference tournament and Joe McInnes was named second team All-Conference.


As a student-athlete at Erskine, Brophy played in 31 career games with 20 starts as a defender. He graduated from Erskine in 2021 with a degree in business.


A native of South Carolina, he played his senior season at T.L. Hanna High School where he served as team captain and was selected to play in the North-South game. He spent his junior year at Wando High School and played his first two seasons at Irmo High School.
