2013 Tournament Updates
17 June 2013
- FPYC sincerely thanks each All-Star team for participating in another great weekend of youth soccer. This year almost 7,000 players from nearly 30 different clubs completed 866 games at 27 different locations.
- We will verify and post all of the scores as quickly possible, and will publish a list of tournament Champions and Finalists.
- FPYC invites everyone to come to the FPYC 50th Anniversary Field Day at Fairfax HS on 29 June. The "Sports Carnival" will include activities from all twelve FPYC sports, either in the gym or on one of the fields. Kids (and adults) can complete their own "Carnival Passport" by trying each of the sports. All sports activities are free, and food items will be sold at various locations.

- Tournament Advancement Rules: Divisions with an odd number of teams: four game round-robin with no Championship game. Champions and Finalists are determined by tournament points. Champions and Finalists will be declared as soon as possible so that they can have brief trophy presentation before they leave. We will deliver trophies to Champions or Finalists if they have left the site before the results are final.
Divisions with six teams: Top two teams of all six teams advance to Championship game. These are listed as Wildcard #1 and Wildcard #2.
Divisions with eight teams: The winner of each sub-group of four teams advances to the Championship. These are listed "Group A #1" and "Group B #1".
- Championship games will be followed by a brief trophy presentation.
- Samir Badr, a former goalkeeper for the US National Team and FC Porto,
will be at the Luther Jackson MS soccer fields Sunday from 1:00 to
2:00 to talk with teams and players. Samir Badr was a goalie at Robinson Secondary School.

Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:30. Come out to meet Stephanie and Tori
and give them a warm welcome from NOVA youth soccer. Stephanie Ochs, #22, Forward, San Diego Ca. Tori Huster, #23, Midfield, Cincinatti Oh.

The last part of the road to Baron Cameron Park is rather narrow, so
cars should not park along the road. There is plenty of parking at
field 3 and it is a short walk between the baseball field and field 3 to
fields 9 and 10.

Samir Badr, a former goalkeeper for the US National Team and FC Porto,

2:00 to meet and talk with players. Samir Badr was a goalie at Robinson Secondary School.

- DC United representatives will be at the Lanier MS field. Stop by between 9 AM and 1 PM Saturday to pick up some DC United promotional items.

- Any teams that have not registered should register between 5:00 PM and 6:30 at the FPYC clubhouse this evening.
- The FPYC Clubhouse is
in Providence Park in Fairfax City, and does not have a street address.
The closest street address is 10722 West Dr, Fairfax, VA 22030.
* From Rt 123 and Main Street in Fairfax City: Go south to West Drive, turn
right, go straight at the stop sign, follow road to the left and enter the
Providence Park, clubhouse is at the end of the parking lot.
* From Braddock Rd and Rt 123 by GMU: Go north on 123 to West Drive turn left,
go straight at the stop sign, follow road to the left and enter the Providence
Park, clubhouse is at the end of the parking lot.
* From 495: Take Route 66 West to Route 123 South into Fairfax City. Travel
past the Old Courthouse and Massey Building. Turn right onto West Drive
at traffic light. Go straight at the stop sign, follow road to the left and
enter the Providence Park. Clubhouse is at the end of the parking lot.
- All teams should check the on-line schedules tonight, in case there are any schedule changes today.
- We do not anticipate any field closures Saturday morning, but will post any closed fields on-line as soon as possible.

The thunderstorms have passed, so registration will go as schedule
tonight: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Green Acres Community Center. We
will stay as long as needed to register all teams.

at Green Acres Community Center is large enough to accommodate everyone,
so nobody will be waiting in the rain.

- All teams must register on Wednesday (12
June) or Thursday (13 June) at the Green Acres Community Center in
Fairfax City (4401 Sideburn Rd, Fairfax, VA). Directions to the Green
Acres Community Center are on the DOCUMENTS page.- Teams may register either night between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
- Any adult (not just Coach or Team Manager) may register a team.
- Any adult can register multiple teams.
- Teams must present the following items to register:
- Two copies of tournament roster signed by a club official (not the coach)
- A recreational player pass/card for each player on the roster, signed by club official
(player signature not required for Virginia player passes) - A medical treatment release form signed by a guardian for each player
- Registration is NOT at the FPYC clubhouse, like past years. Green Acres is about 8 minutes from the clubhouse. From Rt 123 in Fairfax City: go east on Armstrong, turn right on Sideburn, Sideburn ends at Green Acres Community Center.
- Divisions with an odd number of teams play a four game round robin. Champions and Finalists are determined by Tournament Points and the division does not have a championship game. Site Managers will contact team POCs as soon as the Champion and/or Finalist can be determined.
- All teams should check the schedules posted on the website Friday evening to ensure they have the current schedule.
- Any field closings will be posted on the tournament website as soon as possible.
- Teams must remain at their game site if their game is halted for inclement weather. Games will restart as soon as possible, and the Site Manager will inform team coaches of any changes.

Every All-Star player will receive a t-shirt in honor of FPYC's 50th
anniversary. All-Star Coaches will receive an embroidered baseball
cap. Team representatives will pick-up the t-shirts and hats at Team
Registration next week. T-shirts will not be available for sale at any
location.
- Parking will be tight at the following fields, and
tournament participants should car pool as much as possible: Draper
Park, Franklin MS, Patriot Park, Stafford Park, Patriot Park,

U8B teams playing at Lanier MS should park in the large parking lot
around the school building and walk back down to the fields. Kutner
Park parking will be closed off for various activities.
- Links to field directions (blue circle with a D) and a map (blue circle with a M) are adjacent to each game on the schedule.
- Port-a-Jons will be available at all sites. Most sites will not have any concessions.
- Pets are not allowed on school grounds, per FCPS rules.

- Schedule changes will be highlighted with a red or yellow bar on the left of each game.
- Teams will receive automated emails for schedule changes, if their email address were submitted on the Team Information document.

Teams should not enter their rosters in the on-line system. All
rosters will be verified at team registration, and the on-line roster
system will not be used.
- Team registration will be 12 and 13 June 6:30 PM to 9 PM at the Green Acres Community Center in Fairfax City. All teams must register in person either night, unless game day registration is approved by the Tournament Director. Teams can request game day registration by sending an email to soccer.tourneys@fpycsports.com. Registration instructions and directions will be posted on the tournament website soon.

A test email was sent to all Club POCs and coaches with an email address.
- Club POCs can login to the tournament website to update/correct team information. Email soccer.tourneys@fpycsports if you have not received your user name and password.
- Club POCs need to verify the club list of teams on the website, and send an email to soccer.tourneys@fpycsports.com if there are any problems. (Click on scrolling club symbol to see the list of teams.)

- All-star teams will be loaded into the tournament website this weekend. Club POCs will receive an email with a user name and password so they can verify and correct team information.
- Divisions and locations will be published May 31st.
- Schedules will be published by June 7th, although we are working to publish them sooner.

- We are working through the applications for over 475 All-Star teams from over 25 club, and will publish the list of tournament teams by next weekend.
- Club POCs should forward any changes as soon as possible.- We are working field permits with Fairfax County, and would greatly appreciate clubs releasing all fields as soon as possible.

FPYC is pleased to announce the 2013 Father's Day All-Star Tournament on on 15-16 June 2013. The tournament is open to all boys and girls recreational and house All-Star teams from the spring 2013 season (No travel teams or players). The Father's Day All-Star Tournament includes:
- Three preliminary games for each team
- Championship game for each division
- Divisions in each age group based on team playing levels (self-reported)
- All fields are in Fairfax County or Fairfax City
- Many artificial turf fields in Fairfax County or Fairfax City
Application fees will be published soon.
Application deadline is Deadline 11 May 2013. Additional details will be posted in January 2013. Please send any questions to the Tournament Director, David Shade, at soccer.tourneys@fpycsports.com.
