Jenna Wallace

Jenna Wallace has been named the seventh head coach of the Alcorn State women's soccer team.

Wallace has spent the past two seasons at Alcorn State University as the assistant coach and the last four months as the interim head coach. During the 2022 season, she helped lead the team to its best record in over a decade and a seventh seed birth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship tournament.

As the number two, Wallace was responsible for scouting opponents and assessing game plans, monitoring team academics, coordinating the team schedule and travel, managing the equipment, and analyzing film to aid in player development.

"I am thankful for the opportunity and am truly excited to grow with this group," Wallace said. "My goal is to continue to build a culture of high standards while providing a safe space for my athletes to strive toward their potential on and off the field. We know what we are capable of and intend to raise the bar every day."

Prior to arriving in Lorman, Wallace was a volunteer assistant coach at Delaware State University from 2019-2021. She assisted with the creation and organization of the practice plan, led team sessions, and assisted with recruiting.

Wallace spent her collegiate career at Ocean County College and Delaware State. At Ocean County, she was named Second Team All-American, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-Garden State. She also tied for second in the nation in goals and third in points. At DSU, she was an NCAA Division I three-year starter.

The Brick, N.J. native is a 2019 graduate of Delaware State, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication with an emphasis in public relations and advertising.

Brett Sarsfield

Head Coach Jenna Wallace recently announced the appointment of Brett Sarsfield as Associate Head Coach.

Sarsfield, a United States Soccer Federation “A” Licensed coach, joins the Braves staff with well over a decade of Division I women's coaching experience as both a head coach and assistant. In addition, he also has been involved at the women's professional, semi-professional, club, and high school levels of the game.

"Brett is a phenomenal addition to our program here at Alcorn State," said head coach Jenna Wallace. "His wealth of knowledge and experience working with both highly successful as well as rebuilding programs will be essential for our future success. Most importantly, in talking with multiple coaches he has worked with and worked for, and is clear when speaking with Brett himself, his student-athlete centered approach to development makes him the ideal person to help lead this program."

Sarsfield's collegiate coaching experience spans both highly competitive and academic elite NCAA Division I institutions across the country. This includes the West Coast Conference while living in California, to both the Ivy League and Patriot Leagues on the East Coast. He also spent extensive time in the MAAC Conference; initially as a student-athlete, then as assistant coach at two different institutions before being a Division I women's head coach. Over his career he has worked at Siena College, Loyola Marymount University [Los Angeles], Iona University, Saint Peter's University, Cornell University, and Colgate University at the Division I level. He also has additional experience at the Division III level coaching at Ithaca College. He arrives in Mississippi from Norwich University, our nation's oldest Senior Military College, in Vermont.

"Being able to be a part of building a program is always an opportunity I readily embrace," Coach Sarsfield remarked upon accepting the position. "There simply is an overwhelming amount of hard working, competitive, and skilled players in this program. Working with Coach Wallace to realize the potential of all this untapped talent will be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling opportunity."

Regarded as not only a student of the game, but also as a student of the profession of coaching and player development, Sarsfield has enjoyed mentoring players at both the youth level all the way to working with FIFA World Cup winning athletes. During his time at the professional level, he directly coached multiple US Women's National Team stars such as Tobin Heath, Heather O'Reilly, and Allie Long. He has also worked with other full internationals from England, Sweden, Finland, and Spain.

No stranger to helping teams succeed both on and off the field, Sarsfield has competed at the NCAA Tournament as both a player and as a member of a coaching staff. A fervent supporter of prioritizing academic excellence, every Division I program he has worked with has been nationally recognized as a Team Academic Award Winner.

As a player, Sarsfield began his college career as student-athlete at Division I Manhattan College earning the team voted "Hardest Worker" honor as a sophomore while helping the program to a conference playoff appearance. After transferring to State University of New York at Cortland he helped the Red Dragons to a SUNYAC Conference Championship, a ranking of #15 in the national polls, and a trip to the NCAA DIII Tournament.

Outside of coaching, Sarsfield is an accomplished photographer who has worked professionally on both coasts. His images of many prominent stars including Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, David Beckham, and Thierry Henry have appeared in publications around the world.

The site worked great for the tournaments I used it for. I had many coaches respond to my contacting them. The site helped me develop confidence in getting through the recruiting process.
