Camila Mendes

Camila Mendes joined the women's soccer coaching staff in the fall of 2021 as assistant coach. She previously served as head coach at her alma mater, Union, in Kentucky.


Mendes took on the head coaching duties for the Union College (Ky.) soccer program in December of 2010 on an interim basis, before being promoted to the permanent spot the following year. Prior to that, she spent three seasons as an assistant coach.


She led the Lady Bulldogs to a 75-90-10 mark over her 10 years at the helm. Mendes coached one Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year, one AAC Golden Boot, six AAC First-Team members, eight AAC Second-Team members, three AAC Third-Team members, 21 AAC All-Academic Team honorees, six Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, eight CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team members and one CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team member.


During her playing career, Mendes led Union College to back-to-back NAIA National Tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003.


The Campinas, Brazil native ranks eighth in program history in goals scored (33), ninth in assists (23) and eighth in points (89). A four-time All-Conference selection, Mendes won the AAC Player of the Year in 2004, and earned NAIA All-American honorable mention in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In addition, Mendes was named the Union College Female Athlete of the Year in 2004-05.


After leaving Union, Mendes continued her playing career as a member of the Blackburn Rovers in England in 2005, on Requios FC in Japan in 2006 and on Real Dimension in Trinidad in 2007, helping Real Dimension capture the national championship. In 2008, Mendes coached Naparima U16 Boys team in Trinidad.


Mendes earned two degrees from Union: her B.S. in business administration and physical education in 2005 and her master's in health & physical education in 2010. She holds a B license from the Brazilian Futebol Confederation and a USSF National D license.
