Kimberly Harrell

Belhaven University Vice President and Director of Athletics, Scott Little, has announced the selection of Kimberly Harrell as Head Women's Soccer Coach. She will also assist the Athletics Department in the coordination of special projects. Kimberly comes to Belhaven from Richland High School, where she has served as Head Girls' Soccer Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics. A former student-athlete a second-leading goal scorer at Jones Community College, she is also a graduate of Mississippi State University (Secondary Education), Mississippi College (Masters of Education) and Arkansas State University (Specialist Certification). Harrell is currently working to complete her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Belhaven University.

"I am thrilled to have Kimberly join our staff team as Head Women's Soccer Coach", said Little, "Her competitive record and ability to develop student-athletes is outstanding, and she brings an energy and maturity that is an ideal fit for us. Our field of candidates was very strong and Kimberly emerged as our top finalist. She'll do a great job leading us forward in a very competitive American Southwest Conference."

A native of Florence, Mississippi, Harrell is completing her seventh season as Head Coach at Richland High School, where her teams have compiled a record of 96-48-3. Prior to her arrival the program had never advanced beyond the first round of the state playoffs, and in each of the last four years the team has played for the North State Championship, winning twice to advance to the Mississippi State Championship, an accomplishment unique in the history all of the school's sports programs. The Rangers also hold two District Championships, which are the only two in program history.

"I feel blessed to have the opportunity to enter the collegiate coaching ranks at Belhaven as it has always been a long-term goal of mine", remarked Harrell, "Soccer has been an integral part of my life for the past twenty-five years, and I am thankful to foster that love in younger players. I am thankful the Lord has called me to Belhaven to share my passion for soccer and cultivate a lifelong love for the sport, all the while leading these student-athletes to become discerning members of His kingdom."

In addition to her roles at Richland High School with Girls' Soccer and Athletics Department administration, Kimberly has assisted with the Boys' Soccer program and the Softball programs. She has taught World History, Economics, Government and Social Studies, and is the current Chair of the Junior High Social Studies Department.

Kimberly is married to Matt Harrell, and they are the proud parents of a daughter, Addison. They are active members of First Baptist Church, Richland, and she also participates in the Fellowship of Christian Athletics and the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
