Tobechukwu Obi

During his inaugural season, he helped tutor All-Region 15 First Team honoree Lizbeth Vazquez.


Before his time at the head of the Panthers women’s soccer program, he served as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Soccer program from 2019-20. He teamed up with Head Coach Modou Seck to guide the Panthers to an overall 10-3-2 record to capture the program’s 12th CUNYAC Community College Championship, the third in four seasons, in thrilling fashion rallying to a 5-4 decision. The victory in the 2019 Conference finals propelled the Panthers to their first appearance in the Region XV finals since 2012.


Tobechukwu also helped tutor 2019 CUNYAC Player of the Year Seydou Diallo, who netted 11 goals, the seventh-most in a single season. He also helped develop three CUNYAC Community College All-Stars and four All-Region 15 honorees in First Team selections Seydou and Dijiby Diallo and All-Region 15 Second Team and Honorable Mention honorees Michael Konadu and Otto Manuel Sabalza.


Tobechukwu also coaches Boy’s JV Soccer at Regis High School in Manhattan.


Tobechukwu completed a program as a Software Engineer, The Pursuit Fellowship, and double majored in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Poly Tech University, where he received his associate's degree in 2008. He completed his bachelor's in Biology and Math from Mercy University in 2013.


Tobechukwu resides in Brooklyn, New York, with his son Michael and daughter Madisyn.
