Spencer Pappas

Pappas enters his fourth season at Benedictine in 2024.


The 2023 season saw Pappas help direct one all-conference performer.


The 2022 team posted a seven match unbeaten streak, the longest since 2016. The club finished 7-1-2 in the final 10 matches and made an appearance in the NACC Championship match. The conference freshman of the year was on the squad and additionally six players were named all-conference, one all-region, four academic all-region and one scholar all-region. Additionally, the team received the United Soccer Coaches Academic Team Award.


During his first season at the helm in 2021 the team finished second in the regular season and reached the NACC Semifinal while amassing the most wins (13) since 2017. On top of that, the squad scored the most goals (43) since 2017 and allowed the fewest goals (25) since 2017. Six players were honored by the NACC with all-conference awards while two were selected all-region. Three players were named academic all-region with another earning scholar all-region. The team also received the United Soccer Coaches Academic Team Award.


Pappas arrived at Benedictine after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Detroit Mercy in the Horizon League since 2014. Pappas was involved in every facet of the program at Detroit Mercy, serving as camp coordinator, recruiting coordinator, scheduling coordinator, travel coordinator and video coordinator. Detroit Mercy won the 2014 Horizon League regular season championship and was a consistent qualifier for the Horizon League tournament. The team posted a top-five GPA for all of NCAA Division I Men's Soccer on three occasions and was a seven time recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Academic Award.


Pappas also coached at Albion College from 2012-2014, helping the team to the second highest goal total in program history. Additionally, Pappas has served as a staff coach for various team in the Michigan Jaguars Soccer Club.


Pappas attended Michigan State University where he majored in Kinesiology with a specialization in coaching. While at Michigan State, Pappas served as the student manager of the men's soccer team and was part of the 2010 team that reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
