Doug Pryor

CCBC Catonsville is excited to announce the appointment of Doug Pryor as the new head coach of the Cardinals women’s soccer program. A respected figure in Maryland’s soccer community, Pryor brings over 30 years of experience as a player, coach, and mentor, with a deep commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

Pryor, a CCBC Athletics Hall of Fame inductee for both soccer and baseball, has been a fixture in Maryland soccer for decades. His coaching career spans all levels of the game, from recreational soccer to elite club and high school programs. Most recently, he served as the Director of the Girls Academy at Baltimore Celtic and was a key figure in the ECNL Senior Staff for Women’s Soccer at Pipeline Soccer Club.

Pryor spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Mercy High School, where he guided the team to its first-ever IAAM “A” Conference Championship in 2022. That same year, he was named Baltimore Sun All-Metro Coach of the Year, Baltimore Banner Coach of the Year, and MACS Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, Mercy finished the season ranked #1 in the Baltimore Sun State Soccer Poll and #18 in the FAB50 National Poll, marking the highest national ranking in the program’s history.

“There is such a great tradition at CCBC Catonsville Women’s Soccer that has fallen by the wayside the past few years. I would like to return to those successful days through teamwork, hard work and dedication. I sincerely care about the growth of every student athlete on the field but more importantly off the field, building character that will carry my players through college and the real world. My goal is for a return to winning ways. It was the great Coach John Wooden who said “Success is a peace of mind that is the direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming.“ So, I as a Coach would like to help guide my players into be the best that they can be both on and off the field of play.”

CCBC Catonsville Adminstrator of Athletics, Leslie Wray, “Doug’s experience, leadership, and passion for the game make him the perfect fit for our program. We are thrilled to welcome him back to CCBC and look forward to bringing women's soccer back to CCBC Catonsville.”

The Cardinals are eager to begin preparations for the upcoming season under Pryor’s leadership.
