Joshua Macharia

Coach Macharia begins his role as the head women soccer coach here at CCCK this fall. Even though he joined the coaching staff mid spring, he was able to help with the recruiting process, and was able to begin assimilating the team to his philosophical approach. His philosophy of coaching is that “God has blessed student athletes with immense talents and my role as a coach is to facilitate a safe place, offer guidance, and leadership so that the athlete can exercise and display those talents.”


The team had a great season last year finishing 5th in the Sooner Athletic Conference and qualifying to play at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament. Coach added, “It is a big act to follow, especially since a lot of the first team players graduated. The returning group is excited for the challenge, and we are hoping that our incoming first-year students who will be the bulk of our team come with great excitement and a sense of adventure.”


Coach Macharia comes to CCCK with coaching experience first as an Assistant Womens Coach at Olivet Nazarene University for 12 years, and then 4 years as Head Womens Coach at Arizona Christian University. Both of these NAIA institutions have a rich tradition of producing quality teams, and he was able to be a large part of continuing their legacy.


As a player Coach Macharia played at Olivet Nazarene University for 1 ½ seasons before starting his coaching career. Prior to being in the States, coach Macharia who is a native of Kenya, had played in all levels of the game short of being a pro.

Coach Macharia is married to Melissa, and they have one son James (8).
