Clarence Gundersen

In 2019, Centralia College selected Clarence Gundersen to be the new head coach of the Trailblazers women’s soccer team, replacing Horst Malunat, who resigned at the end of the 2018 season after three seasons of dedicated service.

Gundersen has coaching experience at the high school and semi-pro levels and athletic training experience at the collegiate level. He has coached the boys’ soccer team at Centralia High School for the last four years and, in 2017-18, he coached the Twin City Union’s women’s semi-pro team.

BlazerBIll_Lg_BW_11In addition to his work on the field, Gundersen works full-time in the TRIO program at Centralia College. TRIO is a federally-funded program that helps middle and high school students pursue higher education. He’s been with that program for four years.

Gundersen said his goals are to create a respectful, positive and healthy learning environment for his players, improve technical skills, and conditioning, and foster positive mental attitudes and good sportsmanship.

“My coaching staff and I are committed to helping players become the best they can be, both on and off the field,” he said. “It is our goal to fuel our players’ passions for a lifetime, and we are committed to service and all the work it will take to make it happen…In addition, I promote a positive environment that supports academic success and assists student-athletes with achieving their academic goals. I am a firm believer that education is investment in oneself. I believe it is important to develop well-rounded students because athletic success cannot be achieved without academic success.”

Gundersen believes Centralia College is positioned to become a premiere destination for athletes across the region.

The women’s soccer team will begin training this spring. Games start in August.

Didn't have a long-term experience with the site, however I found it more user friendly than CaptainU, which I had used in the past.
