Betsy Warren

Warren is entering her 11th season as the head women's soccer coach at Chatham University in 2022. The 3-time PAC Women’s Soccer Coach of the year is the longest serving and winningest coach in Chatham program history.


The Cougars are coming off of a history making 2021 campaign, with a record of 12-6-1, winning their second PAC Championship and earning their first ever NCAA Tournament berth (becoming the first women’s team in Chatham Athletics History to advance to NCAA’s). Coach Warren & Morgan Anderson were named the PAC Coach of the Year and PAC Player of the Year for the second year in a row and Anderson garnered United Soccer Coaches All-Region III Team and Academic All- Region honors.


In 2020-21, Coach Warren led the Cougars to an 8-1-2 season and the program's first-ever PAC Championship title and first women’s PAC Championship in Chatham history. Warren was named the 2020-21 PAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year and junior Morgan Anderson was named Player of the Year & became the first All-American in program history when she was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America team. The Cougars earned their highest national ranking at #18 following the season and off of the field the Cougars 3.83 team GPA was the 3rd highest GPA in the country for all United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award winners across all divisions.


During her time at Chatham, Warren has overseen a complete overhaul of the Women’s Soccer Program. Since transitioning from Chatham College for Women, to fully coed Chatham University, the Cougar Women’s Soccer program has amassed a record of 69-40-10 (62.18% winning percentage) and developed into one of the top programs in the Presidents Athletic Conference.

The Cougars have finished in the top 4 of the PAC for 6 straight years, appeared in 6 straight PAC Semifinals (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) and have appeared in the PAC Championship for 3 straight years (2021 -2019). Off of the field the program has received 10 straight United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards.


In addition to the team success, the program has seen some impressive individual awards and player accolades along the way.

In addition to her Head Coaching role at Chatham, Warren is part of the Chatham Title IX Team, Chatham Green Dot Team (bystander intervention program), serves on the United Soccer Coaches National Rankings Committe as the Region IIV Chair, and is the PAC Women’s Soccer Representative for both the United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings & NCAA Regional Rankings committees.


Coach Warren’s college coaching resume includes stints at three other institutions, most recently serving as the Head Coach at Pitt-Greensburg from 2011-2012. Prior to Pitt-Greensburg, Warren spent two years (2007-2009) as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach, Assistant Track & Field Coach and SAAC Advisor at Carnegie Mellon University. While at CMU, the Tartans advanced to the ECAC Tournament and garnered some impressive individual player accolades including one All-American, two All-Region Players, and one UAA Rookie of the Year.


Warren started her college coaching career as the Assistant Men’s & Women’s Soccer Coach at Ashland University (2004-2007). During her time with the Eagles, the women’s soccer program was ranked as high as seventh in the nation, won a GLIAC Conference Championship, made an NCAA Division II Elite Eight Tournament appearance and accumulated a 38-15-4 record. Warren was part of a coaching staff at Ashland that produced two All-Americans, the 2004 GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, the 2004 GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and five First-Team All-GLIAC Players.


Coach Warren has 20 years of experience in youth soccer and is currently the Director of the PA West Girls Olympic Development Program and was recognized as the 2019 PA West Girls Olympic Development Coach of the Year. Warren holds both an NSCAA National Diploma and National “C” License and has been a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America since 2005.


As a student-athlete, the Northern Virginia native was a standout soccer player at Division I Radford University in Radford, Va. Named team captain her senior season, Warren helped her squad to an overall record of 46-28-6, which included both Big South regular season and conference tournament titles as well as an NCAA Division I tournament appearance.


Warren earned her Bachelor of Social Science degree with minors in Anthropology and History from Radford University in 2002 and a Master of Education degree in Sports Education and Administration from Ashland University in 2006.

Jordan Mehalko

Coach Jordan joined the Cougar Coaching staff in the fall of 2022. She comes to Chatham following 4 years at Alleghany College where she earned a BS in in Neuroscience and Biology, was a 3 year member of the women’s soccer team and student assistant coach her senior year.


Prior to Allegheny, Mehalko graduated from Bethel Park where she was a 4 year letter winner and named to Pennsylvania All-Big 56 Team. She played her club soccer at Pittsburgh Football club where she served as her team captain and was named US Youth Soccer Player of the Month and was a 6 year member of PA West State ODP Team.


Mehalko’s youth coaching experience includes being a member of the PA West Olympic Development Program coaching staff, and administrator for the East Region Olympic Development Program for the past 5 years.


Mehalko is pursuing Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham.

Julie Bruening

Bruening joined the Chatham University Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff in 2019 following a stand-out four-year career on the pitch for the Cougars. From 2015-2018, Bruening was the anchor to the Cougar Midfield. She started every single game of her career (69) and is ranked third in the program career stats for total goals (29) and total points (99).


The two year Captain was a three year All-PAC Team selection (2016, 2017, 2018) and the programs the first ever United Soccer Coaches All-Region player (2017).


The Madison Ohio native, earned her BA in PreK-4 Education at Chatham in the spring of 2019 and completed her Masters in Communication at Chatham in the spring of 2021.
