Seth Benjamin

Colby College is excited to announce the selection of Seth Benjamin as the new leader of the women's soccer program for the 2024 season. Named Coach of the Year twice in the last six years, his extraordinary ability to develop a program and individuals is evident through his success across state, regional, and national levels.

"I am excited and honored to be named the next head coach of Colby Women's Soccer," said Benjamin. "I would like to thank Mike Wisecup and the search committee for the opportunity to continue my coaching career at an institution with such an outstanding commitment to their academic and athletic pursuits. I look forward to being part of a dedicated athletic staff, and to hit the ground running with a tremendous group of student-athletes."

Benjamin comes to Colby after a historic run as the head coach at the University of Southern Maine. The Huskies are coming off back-to-back Little East Conference Championships in 2022 and 2023, accumulating a 67-25-9 record over Benjamin's six seasons at the helm. USM accumulated a 6-2 record across four conference tournaments, and qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament in each of the last two seasons, the first two appearances in program history. The Huskies defeated 11th-ranked Rowan University in the first round in 2023.

"Seth is the perfect leader for our program because of his proven success, clear passion and enthusiasm for the game, coaching style, approachability and focus on culture," said Mike Wisecup, Colby College Vice President and Harold Alfond Director of Athletics. "He has demonstrated an ability to build successful teams and compete at the highest levels against strong programs. I am so excited to have him join our team and lead our program to the success I know they are capable of."

Prior to his tenure at the helm of USM, Benjamin spent time at the University of Vermont, Green Mountain College, University of New England, and New Hampton School. He holds numerous coaching accreditations from the United States Soccer Federation including a USSF A License, an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, and an NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma. A graduate of USM, Benjamin was a four-year starter for the Huskies' men's soccer program.
