Coaching at DeSales

DePaolo was named the women’s soccer program’s seventh in the summer of 2020. In her first two full seasons post-pandemic, she has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back 13-win seasons. DSU has posted back-to-back appearances in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament and in 2022, DeSales was a finalist in the ECAC Tournament.

· Allie Trick ’23 – All-MAC Freedom First-Team; United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second-Team; Academic All-MAC; Finished career with 31 goals and 75 points.

· Meghan Foley ’23 – 2x All-MAC Freedom Second-Team; Finished career with 15 goals and 45 points.

· Meghan Corbran ’22 – Named All-Conference 3x including Second-Team twice and First-Team as a senior. Earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second-Team honors as a senior.

· Gabby Torchia ’22 – 2x All-MAC Freedom defender earning First-Team honors as a first-year student and Second-Team honors as a sophomore.


Playing Career

DePaolo was a four-year letterwinner at IUP as a defender and central midfielder. She helped lead the Crimson Hawks to four straight winning seasons.

Personal

Prior to DeSales DePaolo spent two seasons as the assistant women's soccer coach at Washington and Lee helping the Generals post a two-year record of 25-7-4 including a 16-2-2 mark in 2019 and consecutive appearances in ODAC postseason tournament.


She arrived at W&L having spent four seasons at Muhlenberg College, serving as an assistant coach and strength and conditioning assistant. In her role as assistant coach, she was responsible for all aspects of the program, including recruiting, administrative duties and player development. DePaolo also spent time at St. Francis (Pa.) University as a strength and conditioning intern at St. Francis (Pa.) University during the spring of 2014.


In addition to her experience at Muhlenberg and Washington & Lee, DePaolo served as an ODP coach with the Eastern Pennsylvania Region, instructing U12 and U16 teams. She also served as a coach with the ESF Camps in Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley United U8/9 girls team.


DePaolo holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and USSF “D” and “E” licenses. She also earned her Masters in Sport Psychology from Lock Haven University in December, 2018.

Martin Brett

Martin Brett rejoined the women's soccer staff in 2022 after serving as an assistant coach for 12 years prior. Brett, a 1998 graduate of DeSales University with a B.A. in Politics, played for the men’s team for three seasons. As a senior, he was named Lehigh Valley Scholar Athlete for men’s soccer and while also earning team MVP honors. Upon graduation, he served as an assistant coach for two seasons while working as an admissions counselor for the office of Enrollment Management.


Away from the field, Brett is an assistant professor and director of the Sport Management Program at DeSales. Prior to joining the Department of Business he earned a Ph.D. and M.A. from The Ohio State University in Sport and Exercise Management. Aside from his experience as a collegiate soccer player, Brett has worked in event management with the Columbus Crew and Crew Stadium (the first soccer specific stadium built in the U.S.), grass roots marketing and event management with national 3v3 basketball and soccer tours, collegiate athletic operations, event marketing (GMC-Pontiac), and media relations for Nationwide Arena.
