Omar Gallo

Omar Gallo enters his 10th year in charge of the men's soccer program with an overall record of 93-74-18 and 59-51-13 record in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Coach Gallo recently completed the UEFA B license. He is currently working on his UEFA A license with the Northern Ireland Federation. The Saints have made the CCAC Tournament seven times under coach Gallo. Despite missing out of the 2016 conference tournament, men's soccer was awarded TOPSoccer program of the year for Indiana soccer and Coach Gallo was named Indiana Soccer Director of Coaching of the Year.


Gallo has coached 17 players to All-Conference status in his time at Holy Cross, including Niko Jelicic, Garbhan Grant, Lukman Ahmed-Shaibu, Jonghyun Son, and Axel Valenzuela who were all First-Team selections. Gallo now has eight players playing professional soccer throughout the world.


The Saints recorded the largest win total in program history at 14 in the 2013-2014 season. That season, men’s soccer advanced to the CCAC tournament championship before falling to Olivet Nazarene University 2-1.


Holy Cross received national recognition during the 2015-2016 season. The Saints broke into the NAIA Top 25 poll at #22 after beginning the season 5-2, with one of the losses coming to #1 Davenport in extra time.


Under Gallo’s guidance, the men’s soccer team has turned into one of the best teams on their home field in the conference. The Saints hold a 30-17-7 conference record at home.


Coach Gallo has also coached 18 players that have earned CCAC Player of the Week recognition, as well as a National Player of the Week award recipient.


In addition to coaching the Saints, coach Gallo serves as the Director of Coaching for the Michiana Echo Youth Soccer Club. He holds a NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Level 3 Goalkeeping Diplioma, and U.S. Socer National D Coaching License.


Coach Omar was born and raised In Hamilton, Ontario, Canada prior to relocating to South Bend, Indiana to be with his wife. After graduating from Cathedral High School (Hamilton, ON), he continued his education at Mohawk College (Hamilton, ON) where he earned a Degree in Police Foundations. In 2005, Coach Omar received an athletic and academic scholarship to Cape Breton University (Sydney, NS). While attending Cape Breton, he served as the men's soccer team captain, and helped capture the team's first Atlantic University Conference Championship. Throughout his career Coach Omar was named a first team All-Star, Academic-All-Canadian, and the Canadian Interuniversity Male Athlete of the Week. In 2008 he received a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies Degree.
