Cliff Jordan

Cliff Jordan was named Huntingdon College’s head women’s soccer coach in 2019 after serving as the Hawks’ assistant coach in 2018.

In the 2022 season, the Hawks joined the Collegiate Conference of the South and earned their way into the inaugural conference tournament as they took on new opponent Belhaven. The season ended with a 5-7-3 overall record.

The Hawks excelled in the 2021 season, soaring past Brevard in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament and earning a quarterfinal appearance at Methodist. They finalized a conference record of 4-3-1.

The 2020 season ended with a .500 record at 5-5 and an appearance to the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament.

During his first season as head coach, Huntingdon put together a 6-11-2 record, set the program’s NCAA-era record with 16 goals in a game and advanced to the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

In his one season as an assistant, Huntingdon was 7-8-3 and reached the USA South Tournament quarterfinals.

As a head coach and assistant coach, his Huntingdon teams have produced three USA South West Division selections and 36 Academic All-Conference selections.

Before coming to Huntingdon, Jordan spent one season with the Knox College women’s soccer program. Serving as the first assistant and goalkeeper coach in 2017, Jordan helped Knox post a 14-6-2 record that included 13 shutouts. The Prairie Fire won the Midwest Conference Tournament and advanced to the Division III national tournament.

The Knox team produced two All-Region selections, the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, seven all-conference selections and 22 academic all-conference performers.

In 2016, Jordan was the second assistant coach for the Alabama State University women’s soccer program. The Hornets won 11 games, captured the program’s first conference championship and advanced to the Division I national tournament. Jordan’s goalkeepers earned five conference Goalkeeper of the Week awards that season.

Before ASU, Jordan was the first assistant and goalkeeper coach for the Lincoln College men’s soccer program. The Lynx advanced to the Region 24 Tournament quarterfinals in 2015.

A 2013 graduate from the University of South Florida, Jordan began his coaching career with the Bulls. In his two seasons as a student-assistant, the women’s soccer team advanced to the Big East Conference tournament semifinals in 2012 and the American Athletic Conference tournament semifinals in 2013.

Katie Williams

Katie Williams joined the Hawks Women's Soccer staff in the summer of 2023.

Williams joins the staff after serving the past four seasons as the assistant coach at Birmingham Southern.

Williams spent four years at Birmingham Southern, was the Panthers’ starting goalkeeper for two years, and a captain her senior year. The four-time Southern Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll member was voted team MVP and earned the Heart and Soul Award. Williams graduated from BSC in 2016 Cum Laude with a degree in biology.

An Albany, Georgia native, she most recently coached at The Altamont School and Homewood Soccer Club. In 2020, Williams earned her master’s degree in sports management from Troy University.

Matt Cooper

Matt Cooper was hired as Huntingdon’s head men’s soccer coach in June 2015.

In 2022, the Hawks had a tough season entering a new conference, the Collegiate Conference of the South. The team did not make a conference tournament appearance and posted a win against Centenary.

The 2021 season was the third consecutive year for the Hawks making the USA South Conference Tournament with an overall record of 6-9-2 and conference record of 2-2-2.

In 2020 the Hawks posted a .500 season with an overall record of 4-4 and an appearance to the USA South West Division Tournament- First Round against Covenant College.

In his first season, Cooper led Huntingdon to its first appearance in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. In 2019, Cooper’s Hawks tied the program’s NCAA-era record for wins in a season. The 2019 team put together a 7-10 record and scored 36 goals, the second most for the Hawks during the NCAA era.

Cooper’s Huntingdon teams have produced three All-Conference selections and 58 Academic All-Conference selections.

Before Huntingdon, Cooper spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at the Division III level. From 2006-2014, Cooper served as an assistant at Hampden-Sydney College. Working under head coach Josh Laux, the Tigers’ all-time winningest coach, Cooper was a part of 91 wins during those nine seasons, seven winning seasons and a school-record 16 win-season in 2009.

A 2006 graduate of Randolph-Macon College, Cooper comes to Huntingdon after a short stint at his alma mater. He was hired as an assistant at Randolph-Macon in the spring of 2015 when Laux, also a Randolph-Macon graduate, left Hampden-Sydney to become the Yellow Jackets’ head coach.

As a player, Cooper was a four-year starter for Randolph-Macon. He was a three-time All-Conference selection in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, two-time Regional All-American and a two-time Virginia Sports Information Director’s All-State selection.

Cooper and his wife Anne have a son, Heath Ryan Cooper, who was born Aug. 4, 2014.
