Matt Gill

Matt Gill was hired as Huntingdon's head women's soccer coach in March 2016.

Gill came to Huntingdon with six years of assistant coaching experience at the Division III level with both women's and men's programs. Prior to Huntingdon, he spent two seasons as an assistant women's coach at Virginia Wesleyan College and helped the Marlins to a 23-17-2 record.

Before Virginia Wesleyan, Gill spent four seasons as an assistant men's coach at his alma mater, Mount Ida College. As a recruiter for Mount Ida, Gill brought in Carlos Martinez. Martinez was a four-time all-conference selection, conference Offensive Player of the Year, third-team All-New England selection and the Mustangs' all-time leading scorer.

Gill graduated from Mount Ida in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management and a concentration in coaching. He also earned his Masters of Science in management from Mount Ida.

As a player for the Mustangs, Gill was a two-time second-team all-conference selection and was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference academic all-conference team. Prior to Mount Ida, Gill played two seasons at Garden City College in his home state of Kansas.

Gill is married to the former Sarah Moss.

Matt Cooper

Matt Cooper was hired as Huntingdon's head men's soccer coach in June 2015.

In his first season, he led Huntingdon to its first appearance in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. Cooper’s program produced 10 Academic All-Conference selections during his first season.

Cooper spent the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach at the Division III level. From 2006-2014, Cooper served as an assistant at Hampden-Sydney College. Working under head coach Josh Laux, the Tigers' all-time winningest coach, Cooper was a part of 91 wins during those nine seasons, seven winning seasons and a school-record 16 win-season in 2009.

A 2006 graduate of Randolph-Macon College, Cooper comes to Huntingdon after a short stint at his alma mater. He was hired as an assistant at Randolph-Macon in the spring of 2015 when Laux, also a Randolph-Macon graduate, left Hampden-Sydney to become the Yellow Jackets' head coach.

As a player, Cooper was a four-year starter for Randolph-Macon. He was a three-time All-Conference selection in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, two-time Regional All-American and a two-time Virginia Sports Information Director's All-State selection.

Cooper and his wife Anne have a son, Heath Ryan Cooper, who was born Aug. 4, 2014.
