Marlon McKenzie

Marlon McKenzie joined Illinois Tech as the head men's soccer coach in June 2024.


McKenzie makes the move 5 miles north to the head coaching position at Illinois Tech after working the previous 10 years as a member of the University of Chicago soccer coaching staff. McKenzie started at UChicago in August of 2014 as a Volunteer Assistant Coach/Volunteer Goalkeeping Coach. In June of 2018, McKenzie was promoted to Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach/Goalkeeping Coach/Recruitment Coordinator.


In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, McKenzie comes to Illinois Tech with 13 years of involvement in the Southside Fire Soccer Club here in Chicago as a Head Coach and Special Programs Director.


McKenzie is originally from Jamaica. McKenzie earned his 3-year Diploma in Secondary Education, Information Technology and Business studies from Moneague College in St. Ann, Jamaica in 2005. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University in 2009.


As a player, McKenzie played on several amateur and semi-professional clubs, as well as leading his team at Moneague College as a captain. McKenzie was also short-listed for the Jamaican Under-21 National Team.


McKenzie holds multiple US Soccer Coaching Licenses (USSF B, USSF C, USSF F, National Youth), as well as a Level 1 United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Certificate.
