Shayni Paul

Shayni Paul joined the women’s soccer staff at Lawrence University in 2022 and brought a wealth of knowledge and experience from coaching at multiple NCAA Division III programs across the Midwest.

Paul served as the head coach at Concordia University Chicago for four seasons before joining the staff at Lawrence. The 2018 season marked Paul's first season at the helm at Concordia Chicago, and she made an immediate impact on the program. Two of the season's most notable wins were a 2-0 shutout victory over regionally-ranked Illinois Tech and a 3-1 win over Aurora University. With the 2-0 victory over IIT, it was the first time that season that the Scarlet Hawks had been shut out. When the Cougars defeated Aurora on Oct. 24, 2018, it was the first time in program history that CUC beat the Spartans and clinched the team's first playoff berth since 2016.

During her time at Concordia Chicago, Paul's teams broke multiple school records and 12 players earned All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, including a Freshman of the Year recognition. The team made two appearances to the conference tournament during her tenure.

Paul began her collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, in 2014. That season, the Crusaders went 16-6-2 overall and earned both an Ohio Athletics Conference championship and a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. In 2015, Capital won the Ohio Athletics Conference with a perfect 9-0 record, a first in team history. The Crusaders made it to the NCAA Tournament again where they advanced to the second round for a second consecutive season. Paul remained at Capital as an assistant coach in 2016, and the team finished 9-8-1 overall and second in the league.

Paul became assistant coach at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., for the 2017 season. The Lynx went 8-5-3 on the year, finishing third in the Southern Athletic Association and playing in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

Throughout her collegiate coaching career, Paul devoted time in youth coaching for various clubs. In Columbus, Ohio, she coached for the Crew Juniors, leading elite girls teams from ages 13-17. During her stint in Memphis, Tenn., she worked with Lobos Rush coaching high school girls. While in Chicago, Paul led high school girls teams at Chicago Fire Youth SC. Currently, she works with Wisconsin United FC and the Olympic Development Program of Wisconsin.

Paul earned her bachelor's degree in sports and recreation management with a minor in coaching from Marian University in 2014. She played soccer at Marian and was the team captain in 2012.
