Ashley Phillips

Ashley Phillips enters her eighth season as the head coach of the Northeastern women’s soccer team during 2023, having been named the program’s fourth head coach on March 2, 2016. She previously served as the Huskies’ assistant coach from 2010 to 2015, earning promotion to associate head coach in 2015 and interim head coach in 2016.


In Phillips coaching career with the Huskies, she became the first head coach during CAA history to win the conference’s regular season and postseason championships during their first season as head coach in 2016. She has added 40 All-Conference award mentions, including Chelsea Domond, who was named to the Women's All-East Region Second Team during the 2020-21 season, and Julianne Ross, who has earned four All-CAA First Team awards and was named to the Women's All-East Region Third Team in 2019. She was then able to add five NCAA award winners under her belt with Valentina Soares Gache being named to the NCAA Division I Women All-East Region Second Team and Hannah Rosenblatt to the NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region Third Team in 2018 as her first two. Phillips has coached Northeastern to 11 straight CAA Tournaments which is the longest active streak in the conference. She has also guided Northeastern’s attack to the single-season program record for goals scored in 2017 recordingn a total of 41 goals and helped Northeastern secure the No. 3 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll upon entering the 2016 NCAA tournament.


Phillips' playing career first started when she won the 2003 Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year during her senior season in high school. She then went on to play in college at Clemson University where she was the starting goalkeeper from 2004 to 2007. During her time at Clemson, Phillips had won All-ACC First Team in 2017, three-time United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Honoree, and All-American Third Team in 2006. She reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals during her junior year and currently holds the program's career saves record at 326 saves making her single-season best 119 saves. Ashley Phillips started first playing professional soccer with the Boston Renegades from 2002 to 2006 and then for the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2008 where she competed in the USL W-League going undefeated as the starting goalkeeper for Atlanta. She then played one season for the Boston Aztecs in 2009 and then finished off her professional soccer career playing with the Boston Breakers until 2013.

Alan Goggs

Alan Goggs enters his eighth season on staff with the Northeastern women’s soccer team during 2023, having served on the staff since June 2016. Goggs was promoted to associate head coach in August of 2023.


Upon his arrival, he brought eight years of professional coaching experience to the Huskies, including his most recent post as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Mount Ida College.
