Tristram Bisgrove

Tristram Bisgrove started coaching at Oakton in 2022 as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach. Coach Bisgrove joined Oakton because of the great talent pool in the district and his belief that players will come to Oakton for a great education and establish themselves as bonafide quality college players that may have been overlooked during the high school and club recruiting processes.

Out of high school, Tristram was recruited at the D1 level but an injury sidelined him from playing collegiate soccer. “I wholeheartedly feel that if I knew there was more than one route to college soccer, I would have taken it. I just needed a supportive coach and a chance.”

Coach Bisgrove began coaching with Oregon High School in Oregon, WI as a JV Boys soccer coach. Within two years, that program won the second state title in the school’s history. He continued by coaching both club girls soccer at the U12, U16, and U18 levels as well as serving as an assistant coach with Evansville High School Girls' varsity team in WI, where he also taught Civics, AP Psychology, and World Cultural History. He recently returned to Chicago when his wife returned to her alma mater to serve as a teaching physician with Rush Medical University in downtown Chicago.

Since returning to Chicago, Coach Bisgrove took over the role of Head Coach for Edgewater Castle FC’s inaugural women’s soccer team in the IWSL Amateur Majors as well as having served as an Assistant Coach with Concordia University Chicago (D3). He possesses an MScRSS in Soccer Coaching Education from Ohio University. The degree is a collaboration between Ohio U and the United Soccer Coaches, he also served as a Graduate Assistant in the program where he directly worked with United Soccer Coaches President-Elect, Dr. David Carr, to increase enrollment in the program. He also worked with Dr. Stephen Harvey to help develop a curriculum and co-produced a symposium on Positive Pedagogy in Sports during his studies. After joining Oakton, he helped lead their Women’s team to the Regional Playoffs every year. He has also successfully placed players in D3 and D2 teams since taking over Oakton’s Women’s program.

Coach Bisgrove holds USC certifications in Goalkeeping, Sports Psychology, and Performance Analysis. Additionally, he has earned a Diploma in Football Medicine from FIFA and is currently a UEFA C Candidate with the Scottish FA. He is a licensed teacher in WI and IL. He brings a wealth of knowledge with a degree in business from Eastern Illinois University, and he received his teaching credentials in history, Broadfield Social Studies, Economics, Psychology, and US Government from Edgewood College (WI).

His coaching philosophy is H.E.L.P. Honesty in players and coaches, empathy for teammates and opponents, willingness always to continue learning, and to play with passion, not emotion, as emotion is directionless and fleeting.

Coach Bisgrove lives in Evanston with his wife, two daughters, and dog Bolt. When he isn’t talking soccer and more soccer, he loves to travel, cook, and is an avid reader. He is happiest when people he knows succeed. If he’s talking to you, he believes in your abilities, too.

Didn't have a long-term experience with the site, however I found it more user friendly than CaptainU, which I had used in the past.
