COACHING ACCOLADES

GSAC Coach of the Year (2020)

NCCAA West Region Coach of the Year (2018, 2019, 2020)

Skelley Kellar directs the OUAZ women’s soccer program as head coach into the sixth year of the program in 2022. He begins his 11th season as a head coach at the NAIA level with a 112-62-22 (.628) career record and his 14th as a collegiate head coach with a 159-75-24 (.663) all-time record.

As the only women’s soccer coach in OUAZ history, Kellar has guided the Spirit to a 60-28-9 record, a GSAC East Division title, and four trips to the NCCAA National Championship with a pair of runner-up finishes.

Keller was named the 2020 GSAC Coach of the Year, and he is a three-time NCCAA West Region Coach of the Year. OUAZ has had three players named NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, a GSAC Player of the Year, 13 All-GSAC selections, and 18 NCCAA All-Americans during Kellar’s tenure.

OUAZ (2017 – Present)

OUAZ completed a 14-5-3 season in 2021, where they went 4-1-3 in GSAC play to finish third. After defeating Menlo in the first round of the GSAC Tournament, the Spirit lost to Hope International in the semifinals. The Spirit then went to the NCCAA National Championship, where the team advanced to the championship game before falling to Grace, 2-1.

Led by GSAC Player of the Year Saipress Jones, OUAZ completed an 8-1-1 season in 2020 – played in the spring of 2021 – and they won the GSAC East Division with a 7-1-0 record in conference play. The Spirit qualified for the GSAC Championship Game but it was declared a No Contest due to COVID Protocols.

The 2019 Spirit team finished 15-8-1 overall and earned the No. 4 seed for the GSAC Tournament with a 5-3-0 record in conference games. They advanced to the semifinals of that tournament after defeating Hope International at Spirit Afield in the quarterfinals. OUAZ then advanced to the championship game of the NCCAA National Championship where they lost 1-0 to top-seeded Cedarville.

In the 2018 season – the program’s first in the NAIA and GSAC – OUAZ notched a 13-6-2 overall record and finished fifth in the GSAC with a 3-3-2 record. Making a second straight appearance at the NCCAA National Championship, the Spirit reached the semifinals.

The inaugural season in 2017 saw OUAZ go 10-8-2 overall while only playing two games at Spirit Field. They made the program’s first-ever postseason appearance by playing in the NCCAA National Championship where they went 0-2 in pool play.

MidAmerica Nazarene (2012 – 2016)

Kellar came to OUAZ from MidAmerican Nazarene where he was the head coach of the Pioneers’ women’s soccer program for five seasons. During his time at MNU, the team recorded a 52-34-13 overall record and made its first-ever appearance at the NAIA National Championship. In his first season at MNU, Kellar led the Pioneers to the conference tournament after a 3-year absence. In 2016, MNU finished 3rd in the conference and reached the conference tournament finals for the first time in program history.

Scottsdale Community College (2009 – 2011)

Prior to MNU, Kellar was the head coach at Scottsdale Community College (Ariz.). In three seasons he accomplished an overall record of 47-13-2. In the fall of 2011, Kellar's team made it to the semifinals of the National Championship before finishing third in the country in the NJCAA.

Playing Career (College & Pro)

Kellar played collegiately at Azusa Pacific University where he helped the program reach the national tournament three years in a row (2004-06), including two runner-up finishes. During his tenure at Azusa, Kellar was a four-time all-region honoree and two-time All-American.

After graduating, Kellar played in the Premier Development League, United Soccer League, and on two First Division teams in South Africa.
