Alex Vokes Macpherson

Alex Vokes Macpherson joined the Regis Athletics staff as head coach of the women's soccer program during the summer of 2022 and enters his third season at the helm in 2024.

During the 2023 season, Vokes Macpherson paced Regis to a 9-5-4 (.611) overall record, including an 8-3-4 (.667) mark within the GNAC. The team once again qualified for the GNAC Women's Soccer Tournament. For the second straight year, the Pride boasted a United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region performer as Payton Bridge was selected Third Team All-Region, following Tia Zanardi's selection after the 2022 season.

In 2022, he led the Pride to an overall record of 10-6-2 (.611), including a 9-3-1 (.731) mark within the GNAC. The nine conference victories were the most in a single season in program history, and the team qualified for the GNAC Tournament as the fifth seed.

A holder of UEFA, USSF, and LMA coaching qualifications, he has coached at the professional, collegiate, high school, and youth levels.

Vokes Macpherson (first name pronounced "Alec") came to Regis after one year as the head coach of the Varsity Girls' Soccer program at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. He oversaw all aspects of the program as it participated in the highly competitive New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), including player and team development, recruitment, video analysis, team building and culture, and program marketing.

Prior to Cushing, Vokes Macpherson served as assistant coach and recruitment coordinator at UMass Lowell from 2019 to 2021. He was part of the America East Women's Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year for 2020-21 when the River Hawks hosted the America East Tournament and collected four major conference awards for their performance during the season.

Before joining the River Hawks staff, he served two seasons as an assistant coach with Boston University Women’s Soccer. A member of the 2018 Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year, he helped guide the Terriers to the Patriot League Championship and an appearance at the NCAA College Cup. During the 2017 season, under his tutelage, Rachel Bloznalis was awarded Patriot League Defender of the Year and Patriot League All-First Team. Bloznalis went on to play professionally with Djurgårdens IF Fotboll in Sweden and has represented the U-23 USWNT, before returning to BU as an assistant coach.

In addition to his role at BU, he was the International Partnership Executive for the professional soccer team Celtic Football Club. Vokes Macpherson was instrumental in implementing their youth academy methodology throughout a significant network of North American partner clubs.

He has also served as assistant coach and interim head coach for Wentworth Institute of Technology Women's Soccer. He helped the program win its first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference championship in 2016. The first female program in school history to win a conference title eliminated nationally ranked Arcadia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Under his tutelage, Mary Pastorelli was named to the All-Region First Team, and Morgan Miller and Emily Richard were named to the All-Region Third Team.

Vokes Macpherson's college coaching career began at Franklin Pierce University as a graduate assistant coach for the women's soccer team, helping the program reach the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in 2014.

Vokes Macpherson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design from Nottingham Trent University (England) before earning his Master of Business Administration in sports management from Franklin Pierce University in 2016.

Alex currently lives in Shrewsbury, Mass., with his wife Chelsie and their dog Echo.
