Darren Bauer

Darren Bauer will enter his second year as the head men’s soccer coach during the 2023-2024 season.

In Bauer’s first year at the helm, 2022 saw Schreiner finish with a 2-4-2 record in the SCAC, the highest finish for the Mountaineers since 2015. The year also included SCAC honors for Mason Lubbe (Honorable Mention All-Conference) and Owen Comstock (All Freshman Team).

Prior to being named head Men’s Soccer coach at Schreiner University, Bauer was the head women’s coach at Liberty Hill High School in Liberty Hill, TX. Bauer began on the men’s side at Liberty Hill in 2013 when the soccer programs were first imagined and took over both programs beginning in 2015. He would then go on to only oversee the women’s program from 2019 to 2022. In his time as head coach at Liberty Hill, Coach Bauer would amass a 232-59-17 record with three UIL State Tournament appearances and 9 UIL District titles.

Before Liberty Hill, Bauer was an assistant Men’s Soccer coach at Copperas Cove High School, youth coach for Crossfire Soccer Club and Miami Shores Soccer Club and was assistant Men’s Soccer coach at Manhattanville College.

Education:

Coach Bauer earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Lambuth University and a master’s degree in Sports Administration and Coaching from Concordia University Texas in 2005 and 2021 respectively.

Personal:

Coach Bauer grew up in Little Rock, AR. He and his wife Arlene have one son, Reus, and now reside in Kerrville, TX.

Wayne Munger

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Wayne Munger as a new Assistant Coach for the Schreiner University Men's Soccer program.

Coach Munger comes to Schreiner University after most recently spending time as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Liberty Hill High School. Previous to that, Munger spent time in Vermont, where he served as the Boy's Coordinator and Head Coach for the Lightning Soccer Club.

Collegiately, Munger took the field for Southwestern University and Eastern New Mexico University and came away with a B.S. in Education from Southwestern University, as well as a M. Ed in Educational Leadership from Texas State University.

Bishop Wood

Born and raised in San Antonio, Bishop began playing soccer at the age of 4. Excelling both in the club soccer environment as well as starting for his high school team at John Jay. Bishop then played 4 years at the collegiate level as a starter at Schreiner University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Bishop began his coaching career with Hill Country Crush Academy in Kerrville and as a member of the coaching staff at Texas A&M soccer summer camps, before joining Boerne as a Select and Academy coach, as well as Schreiner University as an assistant Men's Soccer coach in 2022.
