Jessica Giegucz
The 2023 season marked the ninth year of head coach Jessica Giegucz leading the Slippery Rock University women’s soccer program.
Giegucz has seamlessly continued to uphold The Rock’s tradition of being one of the top teams in the Atlantic Region by guiding SRU to seven consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament appearances and winning nearly 70 percent of her games. She coached the 2019 squad to a PSAC Tournament Championship, the programs first since 2007.

2023
• Wrapped up the season going 12-4-3 overall and 11-2-3 in the PSAC West, concluding with the team's eighth-straight PSAC Tournament appearance.
• Enjoyed a nine-game unbeaten streak, Slippery Rock's longest undefeated run since 2009.
• SRU ranked first in the PSAC in corners per game with 7.1 while holding its opponents to a conference-leading 2.2 corner kicks per game.
• Sydney Patrick named to USC All-Atlantic Region Team after her 11 assists ranked second all-time in program history.
• Ashley Rea honored on D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Team following a season that saw her emerging as the team's leading goalscorer with eight goals, capped off with the program's first hat trick since 2019.
• Six players named to All-PSAC West Team including Diffenbacher, King, Patrick, Rea, Riefenstahl and Sarver.
• Six selections for CSC Academic All-District featuring DeLucio, King, Patrick, Riefenstahl, Sarver and Zacharyasz.
2022
• Finished 7-4-8 overall and 6-3-7 in the PSAC West, ending with a seventh-straight PSAC Tournament appearance.
• Tied for 2nd fewest number of goals in a season with 13 (2011, 2014), reflected by forcing ten shutouts.
• The Rock enjoyed a seven-game undefeated streak from Sept. 24 until Oct. 19, allowing only two goals in that span.
• Emma Yoder named to CSC Academic All-America team for second time.
• Six players honored on the CSC Academic All-District team including King, Mascaro, Patrick, Rea, Swope, and Yoder.
• Four All-PSAC West selections in King and Mascaro being named first team, as well as Riefenstahl and Swope, second team.
2021
• Ended season with a 12-4-2 mark overall and 11-3-2 record in the PSAC West, including a trip to the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals.
• The Rock suffered just one defeat over their first 10 games of the season.
• Jordyn Minda named a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second time in her career.
• Two USC Scholar All-Americans in Rachel Edge (second team) and Minda (third team).
• Edge (first team) and Minda (second team) named to USAC All-Region team.
• Three D2CCA All-Atlantic Region selections in Edge (first team), Minda (first team) and Nina King (second team).
• Four players earned CoSIDA All-District accolades including Edge, Minda, Kayla Swope and Emma Yoder.
• Five All-PSAC West selections in Edge (first team), Minda (first team), King (first team), Emily Arnold (second team) and Georgia Nagucki (second team).
2020
• Season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019
• Compiled its best record since Giegucz’ inaugural season, ending the year 18-4 over and 14-2 in the conference.
• The Rock recorded three separate winning streaks of at least five games including a season-long seven-game streak (Sept. 8-28).
• Won the team’s first PSAC West Championship since the 2007 season.
• Made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament second round.
• Emma Yoder named PSAC Tournament MVP.
• Madison Johnson earned USC Scholar All-America and USAC Scholar All-East Region accolades.
• Yoder and Jordyn Minda named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
• Rachel Edge named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year and Johnson selected as PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year.
• Five USC All-Region honorees in Edge (first team), Johnson (first team), Minda (second team), Yoder (second team) and Kayla Swope (third team).
• Seven All-PSAC selections including Minda (first team), Edge (first team), Johnson (first team) Swope (second team), Yoder (second team), Brooke Riefenstahl (first team) and Shannon McIntyre (second team).
2018
• Concluded the season 12-5-2 overall and 10-4-2 in the PSAC West while making its fourth straight visit to the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals with Giegucz as head coach.
• Opened year by going 6-1-2 over the first month of the season.
• Three USC All-Region selections including Jordyn Minda (first team), Madison Johnson (second team), Brooke Testa (third team).
• Minda named to the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region second team in addition to being the PSAC West Freshman of the Year.
2017
• Finished the year with a 10-6-2 record overall and 10-4-2 record in the conference including its third straight visit to the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals.
• Slippery Rock went 5-2-1 in its final eight games.
• Tess Keeley named a CoSIDA Academic-All American.
• Keeley and Brooke Testa named to USC All-Region team.
• Testa selected as a second team D2CCA All-Region honoree.
• Five All-PSAC recipients in Testa (second team), Keeley (second team), Kylie Downs (second team), Madison Johnson (second team) and Maddy Tletski (third team).
2016
• Recorded a 10-8-1 overall record and 10-5-1 mark in the PSAC West.
• Secured second consecutive PSAC Tournament berth, reaching the quarterfinals.
• The Rock enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten streak from Sept. 20 through Oct. 11.
• Produced four All-PSAC West selections including Dara Demich (second team), Sam Thornton (second team), Tess Keeley (third team) and Maddy Tletski (third team).
2015
• Closed the season with a 13-6-1 overall record and 11-4-1 mark in the conference including a trip to the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals.
• Earned first win as The Rock’s head coach when SRU beat Daemen, 7-1, on Sept. 5.
• Slippery Rock won five of its final six games of the season.
• Dara Demich named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America Team as well as being a third team NSCAA All-America honoree.
• Two CCA All-Region selections in Demich (first team) and Sam Thornton (second team).
• Demich earned first team CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades.
• Six All-PSAC West recipients in Demich (first team), Caitlin Binder (first team), Thornton (second team), Lynn Neef (second team), Tess Keeley (third team) and Allison Harbart (third team).
THE ROCK IN THE CLASSROOM
• The Program has posted for consecutive PSAC team GPA awards under Giegucz.
• Slippery Rock recorded a team GPA of 3.738 in 2021-22, an 11-year program high.
• SRU has had three student-athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition over Giegucz’s leadership including Jordyn Minda who was a two-time recipient.
• The Rock has also had four USC Scholar All-America honorees since the inaugural season of Giegucz.
• Tess Keeley (2017-18) was named to the prestigious PSAC Top 10 list.
• Megan Lenzi earned the notable PSAC Champion Scholar award in 2015-16.
• SRU has produced 124 PSAC Scholar-Athletes under the guidance of coach Giegucz.

CAREER PATH
• Prior to becoming head coach at Slippery Rock, Giegucz was an assistant coach at Shippensburg University for four years under Raider coach Rob Fulton. Giegucz helped to lead the Raiders to 33 wins and two PSAC Tournament appearances during her time at Shippensburg.
• She was then the head coach at Division III Northland College in Wisconsin in 2014, where she led the team to an 11-9-1 overall record and an appearance in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference semifinals.
PLAYING CAREER
• Giegucz was a four-year starter at Dickinson College and was a four-time All-Centennial Conference selection.
• She helped lead the Red Devils to their first NCAA tournament appearance and a trip to the Round of 16 in 2005.
• Over her four-year career, Griggs tallied 88 points on 34 goals and 20 assists. She graduated ranked fourth on the all-time goal scoring ledger at Dickinson and 20th on the Centennial Conference all-time goal scoring list.
• Her 88 points ranked fourth all-time in scoring at Dickinson and 19th all-time in the Centennial.
PERSONAL
• Graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish in 2007.
• Obtained her Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Lock Haven University in 2017.
• Giegucz also owns a National Diploma from the NSCAA and a “C” License from the United States Soccer Federation.
