Paul A. Patton

2018 will be Coach Patton’s thirteenth season as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at St. Catharine. From 2006-2009, Paul served as the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach. Paul took over the sole duty of coaching the Women’s Soccer team in 2010 after overseeing the transition of both programs from NJCAA (2 year) competition to NAIA (4 year) competition and joining the Mid South Conference.

Coach Patton has 23 seasons of collegiate coaching experience including 18 years as a Head College Coach. He holds a USSF ‘C’ license and has earned the NSCAA State and Regional Goalkeeping Diplomas as well as a NSCAA National Diploma. Coach Patton holds the career record for most wins by a soccer coach at St. Catharine College with 86 and he holds the same record at Spalding University with 63.

In 1995, Coach Patton founded both the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Programs at Spalding University. After coaching both teams in 1995, he continued to coach the women’s team through June of 2004. During his tenure he led the Women’s team to 6 consecutive top 3 finishes in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and to one NAIA Region 8 tournament appearance.

In 2006 Coach Patton took over both the Men’s and Women’s teams at St. Catharine. During his tenure at SCC, the men’s soccer team was NJCAA Region 7 Runner-Up in 2006 and 2007 and won the Southern State Shootout in 2008. The women’s team was the NJCAA Region 7 Runner-Up in 2006, and in 2007 they won the NJCAA Region 7 Crown and went on to be a District F Semi-Finalist. The Women’s Team earned recognition as a NAIA Scholar Team in 2008-09, 2012-13, and 2013-14. The team posted program records for wins in both 2009 (7), 2010 (8), 2012 (12), and again in 2013 (14). In 2013 the team finished 14-6-0 overall with a best ever, fourth place finish in the Mid-South Conference and first ever appearance in the Conference Semi-Final.

Lindsey Vinson

Lindsey Vinson, joined the staff as Assistant Coach on December 1, 2014. Vinson, a native of Dawsonville, Ga., had an outstanding career as a goalkeeper on the St. Catharine Women's Soccer team. During her time at St. Catharine, she was named Academic All Mid-South Conference for all four years. She earned Player of the Week honors once, was second team All-Conference her junior year and was named NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete her junior and senior years. She was St. Catharine Female Athlete of the Year in 2013 and earned recognition as Outstanding Student of the year in both Biology and Natural Science.

Following her graduation from St. Catharine, Vinson worked with disadvantaged youth in the AmeriCorps program in Montana. But even while that work was ongoing, she contemplated her next move. “I was probably moving back to Georgia but Coach Patton talked to me about this possibility,” said Vinson. “That was an easy decision. I am definitely invested in this place (St. Catharine) and I really, really care about the school and the soccer program.” In addition to her daily work with the varsity program, Vinson will help with recruiting, work with the Reserve Squad, and coach the Goalkeepers.

I have had a profile on SINC Soccer for 4 years, and it helped me to organize my information so that I was ready when the recruiting process started. I had selected some schools using your site when I was 13 and that helped to start the conversation with those schools and find out about their ID camps, and when UNC made an offer I was prepared.
