Katie Ritchie

Katie Ritchie was named the University of Saint Katherine women’s soccer head coach by Director of Athletics Daniel Stange on Dec. 6, 2018.


Ritchie brings a vast wealth of experience to the Firebirds as a coach and player at both the professional and club levels.


Originally from Vancouver Canada, Katie has played at the highest level of pro soccer all over the world including a 2 year deal with Chelsea FC in England and Amazon Grimstad in the prestigious Norwegian Toppserien. She also was a staple in the W-League captaining various clubs in Los Angeles during her break period overseas.


Katie also has been a prominent figure in the youth side here since she moved to SoCal with her husband Paul in 2015. In 2016 at Carlsbad High School, she led the freshman team to an undefeated season and the best record in the history of the program and was given the Varsity / Program role in 2019 where she led the team to a CIF Open Division final and State Tournament appearance.


In her recent years success, she was just hired on at Vista Storm Soccer Club as their first Female Director of Coaching to oversee and develop the girls program.


She also spent eight years with MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps FC as an academy and prospects coach, a regional development coach, and the lead coach of summer camps. She was involved at the club level with LA Galaxy San Diego in the DA and DPL programs, as well as assisting their semi-pro Women’s Premier Soccer League team.

Paul Ritchie

Paul Ritchie joined the University of Saint Katherine women’s soccer staff as an assistant coach for his first season during the 2019-20 academic year.


Following a 17-year playing career, Ritchie became a UEFA Pro licensed soccer coach, possessing


experience at both elite first team and youth team levels having worked in Major League Soccer, the Scottish Premiership and for Manchester United Soccer Schools, focusing on complete tactical, technical


and physical progression to build successful teams and players capable of performing at the


highest level.


Since January of 2016, Ritchie has served as Head of Academy at LA Galaxy San Diego, where he is responsible for the academy’s overall administration, short and long term planning, and the development of age appropriate


soccer programs in collaboration with members, the Board of Directors and the Executive Board.


Ritchie has also served as the Technical Director at FC Sol as well as an assistant head coach with both Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Carolina RailHawks FC. He was also a coach with Manchester Unites Soccer Schools and Dundee FC.


He received his UEFA Pro License in 2013.

Matt Favor

Matt Favor joined the University of Saint Katherine women’s soccer staff as an assistant coach for his first season during the 2021-2022 academic year.


In his first season on staff, Matt helped USK establish a program best 14-5-1 record, 7-1 in conference play helping the Firebirds earn the #1 seed in the Calpac conference tournament for the first time in team history.


Prior to USK, Matt spent 3 seasons at San Diego Mesa College as an assistant where he helped the Olympians to an overall 47-11-9 record, that included two Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) South Division Championships & three Southern California Regional Playoff appearances. His time at Mesa College was highlighted by the 2019 season where the Olympians went 22-2-2 overall, 15-0-1 in conference and were finalists in the 2019 CCCAA State Championship.


Matt currently coaches for the Cardiff Sockers, but spent 5 years on staff at the DMCV Sharks where he coached in their ECNL/ECRL program.


Matt has also served as the Womens Varsity Head Coach at Canyon Crest Academy in Carmel Valley since 2018.


Matt earned his BA in Psychology & Social Behavior from UC Irvine and holds an USSF National “C” License.

Brad Green

Brad Green was appointed Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities in March of 2019 by Athletic Director Daniel Stange. In addition, Green continues to serve as the Firebirds’ head men’s soccer coach entering his second season with the program in 2019.


Green brings with him a wealth of experience including a coaching and management background.


He will take over facilities management for five of the 14 USK sponsored sports.


"Brad will bring the professionalism and ingenuity that we need as we attempt to transition into a higher division competitively,” Stange said. “We are excited to add him to the leadership team and look forward to seeing what the future holds for him at USK.”


Green was hired in 2018 as the Director of Men’s and Women’s Soccer, but former professional standout Katie Ritchie has commenced recruiting as she has taken over the women's soccer program.


With over 13 years of coaching experience, Green has proven to be a successful educator for youth soccer coaches and volunteers, a trendsetter in skill development and youth leadership as well as possessing strong ingenuity in organization and execution at the youth soccer level.


Originally from London, Green has been a fixture in San Diego-area youth soccer for over 12 years, most recently spending the 2017-18 season as the junior academy director as well as head coach for San Diego Surf Club – the oldest soccer club in San Diego. The Surf is a member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and the Elite Clubs National League. Surf Soccer Club has produced 10 national championships, 33 regional champions, over 68 state champions, hundreds of college scholarship athletes, over 20 National Team players and multiple Major League Soccer players.


Green spent the previous four years (2012-16) serving in several capacities, including director of recreation, head of player development and head coach for LA Galaxy San Diego - the largest soccer club in Northern San Diego County and the exclusive San Diego County affiliate of the LA Galaxy.


Green also served as the head girls’ varsity coach at Carlsbad High School (2014-15), and was the assistant director of coaching for Carlsbad Wave FC (2010-12). In addition, Green served as regional director for Challenger Teamwear (2009-12) and was head coach, program director and trainer at Challenger Sports from 2006-09.


His coaching career began as head coach of Ombersley Colts Football Club in 2005 in Worcestershire England.


Green has developed commercial training programs for individuals and teams at various physical and ability levels and created specific and successfully produced soccer programs ranging from recreational to elite level.


Green’s soccer education includes National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced National Diploma, United States Soccer Federation National License and USSF D License.


He received his degree from the University of Worcester in sports studies with a minor in media and cultural studies.
