Kyle Clancy

Kyle Clancy completed his seventh season as the head men's soccer coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2022. In his first six seasons, he has led the program to four SUNYAC playoff berths including the first home semifinal appearance in the program’s history in 2018, and most recently guided the program to a No. 3 seed and home quarterfinal berth in 2022, which came off the heels of the program's second No. 2 regular season finish and home SUNYAC semifinal appearance in 2021.

The Hawks broke into the regional rankings in 2022, landing as high as No. 6 in the NCAA Region III poll, while finishing the season with their second-straight winning season and fourth in six seasons under Clancy. Clancy helped guide the Hawks to a program record six All-SUNYAC selections in 2022 highlighted by two second-teamers in midfielder Philip Varner and center back Owen McGarrity.

During the 2021 season, the Hawks finished 12-5 overall with a 7-2 record in SUNYAC play. Clancy coached three All-SUNYAC selections, including First-Team selection Tim Kane and Rookie of the Year Joseph DiPreta. Kane went on to earn United Soccer Coaches Second-Team All-Region III honors. The team ranked as high as No. 19 in the country during the season, with the highlight game coming in overtime on the road against then No. 5 nationally ranked SUNY Oneonta. DiPreta put away the game-winning goal on a free kick just outside the box. Under his tutelage goalkeeper Marc DePasquale became the team's all-time shutout and goals against leader.

During the 2019 season, the Hawks finished 8-8-1 overall with a 2-6-1 record in SUNYAC play. Clancy coached one All-SUNYAC selection, including a SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year and a United Coaches Soccer Association All-East Region Third-Team selection. Despite its record, SUNY New Paltz men's soccer outscored opponents 23-22 and defeated two teams that finished in the USC East Region Top-10.

In his third season, Clancy guided the Hawks to a program best No. 2 seed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) tournament, hosting a conference playoff game for just the second time in program history. During SUNY New Paltz's 2018 run, it defeated nationally ranked opponents SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Cortland en route to an 11-6-1 overall and 6-2-1 SUNYAC record. Clancy coached four All-SUNYAC selections, including a SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year selection, two United Coaches Soccer Association All-East Region selections and an All-American Scholar Athlete recipient in 2018. They finished the season ranked seventh in the NCAA East Region.

In his second season, the Hawks finished 6-10 overall with a 2-7 record in SUNYAC play. Each one of the Hawks' ten losses were in games decided by two goals or less. Despite the 6-10 record, the team outscored opponents 24-21.

In his first year, the Hawks finished 8-4-7 overall with a 4-3-2 mark in SUNYAC play, earning the No. 5 seed in the 2016 SUNYAC Tournament. This was the team's first appearance in the postseason since 2012. That year, the Hawks collected two All-SUNYAC honors and ended the year ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region.

Clancy, who served as an assistant men's soccer coach at New Paltz for three seasons before his time at Sage, constructed one of the Skyline Conference's top men's soccer programs, making the playoffs all 6 seasons he was there, culminating in the Gators' first-ever conference title and first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2015. Clancy, the 2015 Skyline Conference Coach of the Year, has achieved an overall career record of 65-39-11 for a .613 win percentage at Sage while winning two regular-season Skyline Conference championships and an ECAC Upstate Tournament championship.

During his time at Sage, he recruited and coached 15 First-Team All-Conference selections and seven Second-Team All-Conference honorees in addition to the 2013 Skyline Conference Player of the Year, the 2014 and 2015 Skyline Conference Defensive Players of the Year and the 2015 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year. He also recruited and coached seven National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-East Region honorees in addition to one NSCAA Scholar All-American and one College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American.

In addition to his duties as the head men's soccer coach at Sage, Clancy served as an assistant athletic director and the athletic facilities coordinator.

Prior to Sage, Clancy worked as an assistant coach at New Paltz from 2006-09. During his time at New Paltz, the Hawks produced four All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) recipients. His first season as an assistant came during current Athletic Director Stuart Robinson's final year as the program's head coach.

A member of the NSCAA, he holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and an NSCAA National Diploma. He also represented the Skyline Conference on the NSCAA ranking committee and the NCAA ranking committee.

Clancy was a four-year starter at Dominican (N.Y.) College from 2002-05, earning four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First-Team All-Star honors. He finished his career as a two-time CACC Player of the Year and a one-time NSCAA First-Team All-New England Region honoree. Clancy currently ranks second all-time in Dominican history in career goals scored (75) and career points (171). After college, he played five years of semi-professional soccer with three different teams in the Northeast.

Clancy, a two-time CACC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned his Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Dominican in 2006. He was later enshrined in the Chargers Hall of Fame in 2017. He currently resides in New Paltz with his wife Caitlin and daughters Payton and Rylan.
