On Monday morning, the Southwestern College Athletic Department announced that former women's soccer graduate assistant coach, Harry Simpson, will be promoted from within and become the fifth head coach in program history. The promotion is effective immediately.

"Southwestern College is proud to announce Harry Simpson as our next women's soccer head coach," stated Director of Athletics, Jamie Adams. "Coach Simpson has been a vital part of SC women's soccer over the last two years, and we are excited to see his vision for the program come to fruition in this new leadership role. Moundbuilder women's soccer is on the rise in the KCAC, and Harry is in the perfect position to take us to the next level."

Simpson has served as the women's soccer graduate assistant coach for the past two seasons, and was instrumental in helping the squad reach two straight Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Tournament championship appearances.

Growing up, Simpson was raised in Derby, England and began playing soccer at a very young age. He played for numerous teams in the UK, representing Derbyshire Academy and Mickleover Sports FC. At the age of 18, Harry made the move from England to the USA to play Soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where in his junior year he helped lead the team to a conference title and an NCAA DIII National Tournament appearance.

While playing for the men's soccer team at UW-Superior, Simpson completed his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science while studying a minor in health, He also gained credits in numerous coaching classes to assist with his transition into coaching.

He vaults into the head coaching position at Southwestern with six years of coaching experience. His coaching career began as a volunteer assistant both in England and in America, before becoming the head high school club coach for multiple girls' teams in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

In 2021, Simpson accepted the position of Women's Soccer graduate assistant coach at Southwestern College and has been with the Moundbuilders since then. He is excited to get started in his new position as a head coach and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
