Jim Rhein

Jim Rhein took over the reins of the Tulsa women’s soccer program prior to the 2021 campaign after 13 years on the staff. In his 16th season overall, Rhein was named as an assistant coach in 2008, was promoted to associate head coach in 2013, took over as interim head coach in 2021 and now serves as the head coach beginning with the 2022 season.


During his tenure, the Golden Hurricane has compiled a 121-127-32 mark. Twenty student-athletes have earned all-conference honors, three were tabbed to the conference all-tournament team, Rachel Thun was selected as The American Rookie of the Year (2014) and Midfielder of the Year (2016), Jordan O’Brien was tabbed as the Conference USA Freshman of the Year (2010), 19 players received all-Rookie/Freshman accolades and five picked up NSCAA All-Region honors.


As head coach, Rhein has posted a 13-16-5 record in two seasons.


During the 2022 campaign, Tulsa posted seven wins and Jordan Frederick, Tatum Sanders and Maggie SymSmith were all tabbed to the American Athletic Conference all-Rookie team. Frederick was also selected to College Soccer News’ Team of the Week, the first-ever national weekly honor in program history.


In 2021, Rhein led the program to six wins, while Madison Williams was named to the American Athletic Conference all-Rookie team.


Rhein came to Tulsa from Bixby High School where he registered a career 131-53-2 coaching record in 13 years as the Spartans’ head girls coach. He coached 21 players to all-state accolades and guided the team to the state tournament in each of his 13 seasons. His teams advanced to the state quarterfinals six times and the state semifinals in 2002 and 2007. Rhein also coached the Spartans to 11 district championships and two runner-up performances.


On the Club level, Rhein served as the Technical Assistant to the Director of Coaching for the Hurricane Futball Club. Rhein helped the HFC ’84 record 15 tournament titles, including the state championship in 2002, while that team also earned a No. 6 national ranking in July 2002 by NationalSoccerRanking.com. Rhein has also worked with the HFC ’88 boys and girls teams, as well as the HFC ’94 girls team.


Rhein was a four-year letterwinner at Northeastern State, where he received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and social studies in 1993.


He and his wife, Amy, have three children: Ali, Eli and Patrick.

Jo Johnson

Jo Johnson is in her third year with the Golden Hurricane as an assistant coach, joining the team prior to the 2021 season.


During her tenure, Tulsa has tallied a 13-16-5 overall record, four players were tabbed to the American Athletic Conference all-rookie team and Jordan Frederick was selected to College Soccer News’ Team of the Week, the first-ever national weekly honor in program history.


Johnson came to Tulsa after serving seven years (2014-20) as the Jenks High School head girls coach. She compiled an 81-22 overall record, coached 15 all-state players and 25 players who went on to play collegiately. She was named the 2020 United Soccer Coaches Oklahoma Coach of the Year for Girls High School Soccer. At JHS, Johnson led all training sessions, game day coaching and team operations, including staff development, community service activities, fundraising and social media.


Johnson has also worked with The Side FC, a pro-amateur UWS League, and Tulsa soccer club teams West Side Alliance and Tulsa Soccer Club.


Prior to moving to Tulsa, Johnson was an assistant coach at her alma mater, UTEP, for two seasons (2010-11).


Johnson was a three-year letterwinner and starter at UTEP, earning Conference USA all-conference honors in 2009. She also earned NJCAA All-American honors and was a first-team ACCAC all-conference honoree in 2006 while playing for Paradise Valley Community College.


Johnson holds a USSF B Coaching License.


Johnson and her husband, Jordan, have one daughter, Emma Jo, and one son, Jack.

Kaylee Rodriguez

Kaylee Rodriguez is in her first year as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program, joining the team prior to the 2023 season.


Rodriguez came to Tulsa after serving the last two years as a West Side Alliance Soccer Club coach. While at WSA, she helped identify key areas of development and designed training structures and practice plans for her players to implement during games.


Rodriguez also served as an assistant to the head coach at Jenks High School (2021-22). In addition, she as coached at Tulsa 918 Futbol Academy (2021-22) and served as a camp counselor at Matt Potter’s Soccer Academy (2015-18).


Rodriguez was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Oklahoma (2015-19). She started in 77 of 79 career contests, had 29 goals, 11 of which were game winners, and five assists for 63 points, and had a career 44.2 shots on goal percentage. Rodriguez finished her career ranked third all-time in program history in goals and second all-time in game-winning goals.


As a senior in 2019, Rodriguez was a Senior CLASS Award first-team All-American, a CoSIDA first-team Academic All-American and a third-team all-Midwest Region selection. She was also a three-time first-team all-Big 12 honoree and was tabbed to the all-Big 12 freshman team in 2015.


A Tulsa native, Rodriguez played for Jenks High School where she was a three-time all-district performer and helped the Trojans claim two conference titles and earn an appearance in the 2013 state finals. She also led the TSC Hurricane to the 2014 North American League Championship and a seventh-place finish at ECNL Nationals.


Rodriguez earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental sustainability from Oklahoma in 2019.


Rodriguez is married to Oscar Rodriguez.
