Dan Dubois

The Washington & Jefferson College Department of Athletics announced Dan Dubois as its new head coach for the women’s soccer program in April of 2023.

“We are ecstatic to welcome Dan to Washington & Jefferson College as our new head women’s soccer coach,” said Director of Athletics Scott McGuinness. “Dan has been coaching NCAA Division III soccer for over two decades and we believe his experience and leadership skills will be invaluable to the talented women on the 2023 roster. Our goal is to compete for PAC championships every year and we feel Dan is the right coach to help put our team in that position annually.”

Dubois will join a program at W&J that has qualified for the PAC Tournament in seven of the past eight seasons. The Presidents finished 2022 with a 5-5-6 overall and 3-4-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

"I am excited about the opportunity to lead the Washington and Jefferson women's soccer program and I'd like to thank Scott McGuinness and the other members of the W&J community for placing their trust in me to lead this program forward,” Dubois said. “I felt an instant connection with the staff, faculty, and members of the team that I met on my visit and could feel their passion, excitement, and commitment. It's easy to see why the athletic department has experienced so much success and I'm looking forward to building on it in the future. I can't wait to get to campus and start working with the team. Go Presidents!"

Dubois comes to W&J after compiling a lengthy track record as a head coach at the Division III level. He most recently served as head women’s soccer coach at Northland College in Ashland, Wisc. for three seasons. The 2021 season saw the Jills rise from last place the UMAC to fifth and just miss out on a conference tournament appearance.

Before his time at Northland, Dubois led the men's soccer program at Juniata College in Pennsylvania from 2007 to 2019. During his tenure with the Eagles, Dubois led the program through its finest season in program history in 2013, in which the squad finished 13-6-3 and reached the Landmark Conference Championship. The Eagles were rewarded with the programs first ever ECAC Tournament invitation. Dubois left the Eagles program as the all-time leader in wins. His 2013 team also still holds the program record for lowest goals against average in a season as well as shutouts. In his 13 seasons at the helm, Dan coached 110 Landmark Academic Honor Roll members, 15 All-Conference selections, and 13 consecutive Team Academic Award recipients.

Dubois played collegiately at Southern Vermont College from 1997-2000. He was a four-year starter for the Mountaineers and was named to the Greater North Atlantic All-Conference team twice. In 2001, the Mountaineers joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the men's program before being named head coach in 2002. Dan coached the Mountaineers for two years and led the program to a GNAC playoff appearance in 2002. In 2019 Dubois was named to the Southern Vermont College Athletics Hall of Fame.

Dubois joined the Eagles staff in 2004 after leaving Southern Vermont. He started as an assistant coach with both the men's and women's program until he took over the men's program as the head coach in 2007. In addition, he also assisted with the Men's and Women's Track and Field Program from 2008 until 2015. In 2009 the women's program was tabbed as Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

From 2006 to 2013, Dan was heavily involved in club soccer with the Huntingdon Hawks, starting first as the girls U19 coach, before becoming the director of coaching in 2010, a position he held for 4 years.

Dan graduated from Southern Vermont with a degree in Liberal Arts has a Master’s in Recreation and Sport Sciences from Ohio University. In addition, he currently holds a United Soccer Coaches Advanced Regional Diploma as well as a D license from USSF.
