Lauren Lewicki became the head coach of the Walsh Cavaliers on September 1st, 2019 after previous head coach Dave Renard stepped down.
"First, I would like to thank Dave for building a fantastic program and wish him the best in his next endeavor. I also want to thank Dale Howard, Jason Fautas and President Collins for their support and confidence in this transition. These players are an honor to work with, and I am excited to see what new heights we can reach together," said Lewicki.
This is Lewicki's fifth season with the Cavaliers as she spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach. Last season, the Cavaliers finished 15-5-1 with an appearance in the G-MAC championship and appearance in the NCAA tournament. This marked the program's first NCAA tournament bid and first NCAA post-season victory when the Cavs defeated Saginaw Valley (1-0) in the first round of the regional tournament.
She was previously the head coach at Urbana University for three years (2011-2013) and was an assistant coach at Defiance College for two years (2009-2011). During her time at Urbana, Lewicki turned a 4-10 team to a 9-8 team in her first year heading the program.
Lewicki played collegiately at Wheeling Jesuit University and started between the pipes all four years earning All-Conference honors three times and All-Regional accolades once.
Lauren received her undergraduate degree in respiratory therapy from Wheeling Jesuit in 2008, and her master's in education (sports science) from Defiance in 2011.
