Tom Reilly

Tom Reilly, a highly-decorated high school coach for over 30 years, was hired as the head women's soccer coach at Washington College in March 2017 and quickly made his mark on the program. The Shorewomen went 7-9-1 in 2017, Reilly's first season, for their best-ever single-season winning percentage at that point. That season, the Shorewomen also had two student-athletes named to the All-Centennial Conference first or second teams in the same season for the first time. The following year, the Shorewomen posted their first-ever winning record at 8-6-1. They also had three players earn All-Centennial Conference honors in the same season for the first time and had a player named All-Region for the first time.

Reilly spent 32 seasons as the head boys varsity soccer coach at Ocean Township High School in New Jersey, piling up a record of 405-188-43 before retiring as both coach and a Health and Physical Education teacher in January. During that time, he also spent three seasons as the head girls varsity soccer coach at Brick Memorial High School, posting a 41-9-5 record.

As a high school head coach, Reilly won 11 Division Championships, four Shore Conference Tournament Championships, five Central Jersey Group III Championships, and one New Jersey Group III Championship. A multiple time Conference Coach of the Year, Reilly was also named the State of New Jersey Coach of the Year in 1995 and the Central Jersey Coach of the Year in 2001. He was inducted into the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2019.

Reilly’s three decades of soccer coaching has also included 12 years as a club coach for the Brick Town Soccer Association Titans (1996-2004) and New Jersey United (2004-08). He coached the latter club to the U.S. Club Soccer State Cup Final in 2008.

Since 1991, Reilly has also been owner and Director of Coaching for Coerver Coaching. He has held his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “A” Coaching License since 1991 and has attended the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention annually since 1989.

Reilly enjoyed a long and outstanding playing career on the pitch, playing competitively in the Garden State Men’s League from 1985 until 2013. He was a four-year varsity player at the University of South Carolina from 1979 through 1982, leading the team in goals (11) and total points (25) in 1981. He still ranks among the Gamecocks’ top 15 all-time leading goal scorers with 23 career goals. As a high-school player at Brick Town High School, he scored a school-record 58 goals and earned first-team All-State honors. He was named to the Asbury Park Press All-Decade Team for the 1970s.

Reilly earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from South Carolina in 1983.
