Eva Meredith

Eva Meredith was appointed as the faculty head coach of Wesleyan women's soccer for the 2004 season. Coach Meredith arrived at Wesleyan after six years at the Division I level.


An accomplished Division I & III coach, she completed her 19th season in 2022. In 2008 and 2009, Eva guided Wesleyan to its first back-to-back winning seasons in 15 years and led the Cardinals to their first-ever winning NESCAC ledger in 2010. In 2009 Laura Kurash '13 was named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year followed by the 2012 NESCAC Player of the Year to end her stellar career. Wesleyan won the Little Three Championship in 2019 for the first time since 1982. Grace Devanny was named NESCAC Rookie of the Year in 2019.


The 2021 campaign was the most successful in program history as Coach Meredith led the Cardinals to the first ever NESCAC Conference Final and an NCAA Final Four semifinal appearance. The team ended up ranked No. 4 nationally. One of the most decorated players in program history, Grace Devanny '23, was named the 2021 NESCAC Player of the Year.


In 2022, the team repeated as NESCAC runner-up, qualifying for to the NCAA tournament, finishing in the top 32. The Wesleyan women’s soccer program has seen tremendous growth under Coach Meredith’s leadership and has developed into a nationally recognized program.


Before Wesleyan, Eva coached at the NCAA Division I University of Hartford for six years, her first three as assistant women's soccer coach and the last three as head coach. During her tenure, Hartford won three American East conference titles and competed in the NCAA Division I championships five times, reaching the Sweet Sixteen in 1998 and Elite Eight in 1999.


An outstanding soccer player both on the national level in her home country of Sweden and as a collegian at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, Eva was a National Team player for Sweden from 1989-1991 and a premier league player there from 1986-1992. Attending Franklin Pierce from 1992-1995, Eva was a four-time all-New England choice, a three-time NCAA First team All-American and the NCAA Division II National Player of the Year as a freshman. She was also a two-time academic All-American and a three-year team captain as Franklin Pierce reach the NCAA Final Four all four years during her tenure and captured NCAA National Championship titles in both 1994 and 1995.


Besides coaching soccer at Wesleyan, Coach Meredith is a faculty advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as an academic advisor. She is teaching indoor cycling and pickleball as her Physical Education duties. In her leisure time, Eva is a competitive pickleball player and has won numerous tournaments both in mixed doubles and women’s doubles.


Coach Meredith hails from Stockholm, Sweden and holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and media theory from Franklin Pierce University and a master’s degree in Recreation and Sports Science with a concentration in coaching pedagogy from Ohio University. She is a graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy and holds a US Soccer B-license.


Coach Meredith is married and resides in Madison, Connecticut.
