Brandon Slewa

Brandon Slewa entered his first year as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at West Virginia State University in 2023.

"After a thorough national search, we are excited to welcome Brandon to the State family," said Burton upon his hiring. "I firmly believe that he is the right candidate to build on our women's soccer program's recent success.

"He brings quality playing and coaching experience to the table and is an outstanding recruiter. He is a true student of the game and his skillset aligns perfectly with the trajectory of WVSU women's soccer."

"I am truly grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to join the Yellow Jacket family," remarked Slewa following his official announcement. "I'm excited to begin this journey with a great group of student-athletes and a first-rate athletics staff.

"Nate believes in me and we believe in our players. That is the foundation of what we envision for this incredible program going forward. I am ready to get to work and lead this team to further success both in the classroom and on the pitch."

Slewa joined Fairmont State's coaching staff in 2022 as the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach. The Falcons captured their first-ever MEC Tournament Championship and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history while he graced the sidelines. Additionally, he directly aided in the development of six All-MEC players and four All-Region student-athletes during his stint at Fairmont.

While on the coaching staff at Fairmont, Slewa also coached the U14 to U18 boys and girls teams for the BVB Dortmund International Academy in Morgantown. He captured West Virginia State Championships with both the U14 boys and the U15 girls sides. He then led the U14 boys team to its first-ever regional tournament.

Prior to obtaining his position at Fairmont State, Slewa was the Assistant Coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Salem University for two years. He gained valuable experience in coaching and recruiting at the NCAA Division II level during his time there. He was named Interim Head Coach for the women's soccer team at one point due to his leadership ability.

Slewa captained the men's soccer teams at Bethany College (Kan.) and Southwestern Illinois College during his playing career. He went on to play in the semi-professional USL League Two for the St. Louis Lions.

Slewa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Math Education from Bethany and a Master's in Education from Salem. He is a native of Ontario, Canada.
